reefgeek84 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Has anyone used one of these? http://www.deltecusa.us/ecocoolers/index.php I know that Joel, is a deltech dealer...but wondering if someone has used one or seen one in working order. Quote
Piero Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 nope, but that sure sounds interesting, especially the decrease in power consumption... We consume so much power running tanks. :( Quote
mister crabs Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 betcha its spendy.....deltec is kinda like the land rover of aquarium supplies. land rover being a rebadged jeep....lol Quote
reefgeek84 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 betcha its spendy.....deltec is kinda like the land rover of aquarium supplies. land rover being a rebadged jeep....lol Yeah they are kind of expensive... the big one rated at 570g tank, is 1500 bucks, but a chiller that will cool that tank, is not alot less then that...and it only the deltec only comsumes 35w... the savings would be substantional after a few years use... mister crabs Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 true. glad I am going T-5's so i wont have to worry about a chiller.....muahahah.....the shimmer of MH is great but the savings on the ol' power bill is better! Quote
oldbrownies Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Isn't it basically a drip plate? If it is, it showers the water over a mesh with air flowing through it... pretty much cooling the tank by transfering the heat directly to the air, and through evaporation. If thats the case then it sounds great, but it would humidify a house even more than the tank would and you would have to cool the house more. AC and dehumidifier would be running the electric bill up quick Quote
