ReefSafari Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010 So last night, after the lights went out, I busted out the flashlight..and was checking out the nightlife in the tank, and got up real close and notice what to me looked like TINY tiny little tadpoles, they where EVERYWHERE...and I started to follow the mass of tiny squiggling dots up the rock and noticed one of the emerald crabs had its "Belly plate" (not sure what its called) popped open and was flapping it...and each time it flapped its belly plate, tons of these little things where flying out...I mean hundreds of these little tiny things where everywhere... I have had peppermint shrimp spawn, and nothing ever came of it...I have seen the shrimp with eggs, and I have seen the shrimp fan its flappers and launch simular things...I havn't been able to find much on Emerald crab breeding...anyone ever experienced anything like that before? I have never seen a crab release babies before...it was really interesting to watch...and it was cool cause I don't often do the flashlight thing...I just happened to do it last night...It was cool..
