Coral and Chromis

I just got this coral and it seems my Chromis has taken a liking to it. It gets looking good and then it will be really small again. I caught my chromis swimming next to it, touching it like a clown does an anemone, then it pecked at it. Is this normal or am I going to have to get rid of a fish? Not sure the name of the coral either.

Well, Chromis isn't the problem now, will the coral live if it free floated into the cave area, there are gaps under there but not sure if it will work its way out or not to reach light. If it will die in there I will try to reach it and try to get it to stay put again another way. Pretty sure it is a colt coral, pics above of it.

Thanks Smann I will have to write that one down. That is where I had it the last time before it worked itself free' date=' this morning it is out in the open just laying there, I will try it again.[/quote']

If you have a pvc cap, 1/2-3/4 (or similar -reef safe)they work good. You can wedge rubble/sand in with the coral

I will look for something like that in case this doesn't work. ATM it looks like I got it in there pretty good. Have to wait and see. Looks like I need to get some more pieces of rock for times like this in the future :D Here is how I got it in there now.

I was looking at your pics on your link, looks like everything opened up real well they must like your tank, especially the light colored xenia those can be tough. My Sinularia isnt as full as it has been, might be a phase. I pushed a rock up and against the base to help support it and it hasnt filled out since then, hope the piece you have opens up

Yeah, I'm really happy with them, they were opening up some not minutes after I put them in there with just a lamp light on to see what I was doing. The light colored xenia was attached to the rock the next day and looks like it is already on the move. lol The larger xenia split, and tried to split again to get off of the rubberband so it is in a hole with very little current and hasn't tried to get out all day. The Sinularia is still pretty small, opens very little then closes up but has been in the same spot all day as well. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope yours opens up soon as well. :( Are those zoo's or a type of button polyp? I knocked them off the rock a couple times but they open back up the next day if I don't keep bumping the rock. :p Very happy with all of them :D
