Tat2d
Well, I have finally feel like I have made enough progress to post about this thing. I have been spending every bit of extra time and energy and cash into getting this system running. Played a bit of musical tanks along the way (LONG story), but I feel like most of the hard stuff is out of the way. 55 gal All-Glass tank with corner overflow and All Glass wet dry with bioballs removed. Stealth 200 watt heater. Iwaki return pump plumbed through a Via Aqua cc-50 chiller on the way back to the display. Lighting is custom sealife 4x96 watt pc's (just until I find a good deal on some retrofit 2x250 watt halides(plotting)). I need to find a decent stand alone skimmer, and I'll be done plumbing for a while. I actually purchased Kmillers 45 gallon intending on turning it into a monster skimmer chamber and refugium, but realized after bringing it home we really don't have room for a tank that large next to the display without having to be fairly cramped at the dinner table. That would not go over well(wife) So it'll be back in the classified section tonight(laugh) Tank has tested as though it is cycled for almost a week now (ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate under 5 ppm PH 8.1). A couple of days ago I decided to "test the water" and added a couple of hermits and a couple of snails from the nano. They have been cruising around and doing their jobs since then, so I added 6 more of each this afternoon. I don't plan on putting anything other than 20-30 more lbs of liverock and maybe a few more janitors in the tank until I can get a skimmer. I really need to give major thanks to Newfisher! Without his constant help and enthusiasm(and truck), I don't think I could have gotten this thing together and running. I owe you big time, John. Thank you! Anyway, I know the drill.....(worthless) I'll get some pics up tomorrow Bobby
Emerald525
Congrats! It feels good when you feel done doesn't it? Then again part of the fun is the building! Newfisher you sound like an awesome guy and can't wait to meet you someday! Can't wait for pics!

bswe22
Way to go Bobby. I am still working on the tank we drilled at Jon's house. I have a few more weeks before I even see water in the thing. I can't wait. (whistle)
newfisher
I'm glad you're back into it full throttle. Its fun watching the progress! Too bad the 45g refugium isn't going to work out, I thought that was a crazy/cool set up. Mabey we could look for a 5x5x 12" and use it as a dinning room table/fuge? Lol
Tat2d
Well, today was the big day. Everything from the 12 gallon was moved to the 55.(clap) Newfisher and bswe22 came and sat on empty salt buckets and coached while I juggled liverock.(they did offer to help, though:D) A few hours later, and the corals are open and fish are looking fine. I couldn't be much more pleased with how the rock turned out. Sorry for the bad pics. My wife took the nice camera with her to Chicago. Tat2d
What a difference a day makes. I traded my 12 gal aquapod for a coralife pro 2 x 150 hqi retrofit kit with 2 x 96 watt actinics and 4 x 1 watt moonlights. Unreal:eek: It looks like a different tank. Had to do a bit of tweaking to the reflector to get it to fit. Brian and I are going to cut the canopy later in the week to give me access to the tank without removing the canopy. But for now it sure looks good. Just wanted to share. B
