vanz
Man...there tenticles are everywhere....is there a way to get rid of them? I heard that they irritate zoos, making them close, therefore killing them. Is that correct? I only have a 29g, so I can't add another fish if a fish is the solution to the problem. They are buried in the live rock as well, just there tenticles are visible.

vanz
Not my picture, but they look like this. I remember when I was back in hawaii...I had a live rock that was literally covered in these things. The rock looked hairy. It's not algae either... impur
Looks more like spaghetti worm aka medusa worm to me. I have them all over my tank, even in zoos and they don't hurt a thing.
andy
yeah, interesting good guys. I get a kick out of them trying to reel in a brine shrimp
vanz
So you guys are positive that they are harmless? I guess I can leave them in there.

oldbrownies
sixlines eats em, they hunt down other worms too
SnowboardKid26
I know those spagetti worms are harmless. I had them at plague populations in my 45g reef, and they didn't hurt anything. They actually help your water quality. But if you want to get rid of some of them like I did because of the numbers, a 6line wrasse will eat them for sure. One took my population of spagetti worms down by about half in a couple weeks.
reefboy
there a bonus would be a shame to iradicate a useful animal there detravores with there mucus lines feeding detritus and bacteria your call but definatly a benefit to cleaning the tank as well as playtonic food for your corals beings population is doing well there definatly part of the food chain for your corals. andy
Do 6-lines only eat little bristleworms, or will they go after the the bigger ones too? I've got a couple of 5-inchers that are starting to thicken-up and I'm thinking it might be time to deal with them...
WAVES
Id be careful adding 6lines,,, mean little suckers. Do some reading on 8 or 12 lines, I bet they have the same diet but I know they arent as agressive. 4 lines are also an option. It seems the 6 lines are the only mean ones. vanz
So fishies that eat bristle worms will also go after spaghetti worms? I have a dottyback that appears to have taken care of the bristle worms, but haven't even touched the spaghetti worms. I'll leave them be if it's beneficial to the tank. andy
Thanks for the heads-up Joel, think maybe I'll use the shrimp-in-the-nylons trick instead.
