ClayTheSavageFraser
I found this fish today it's pretty cool. Now it was a spontaneous buy and the fish store didn't even know what it was they got it by accident. It walks on it's front two fins. Way cool. I thought dragon wrasse but it does not fit the description at all!! Can you please help, I want to do some research!! Rick
Try these two links. I found several close but using the pics it's hard to tell. newfisher
UNKNOWN FISH The Molly Miller Blenny, also known as the Combtooth Blenny!!!! It has to be it!!!
matty
I am thinking some kind of scorpion fish because you said it walks. It looks like a baby so you may have to wait a bit to get a positive id. This page has a lot of pictures and scientific names. If you scroll to the bottom it has all catagories of fish. http://www.starfish.ch/collection/scorpionfish.html
coralreefer
Minature tiger coelacanth...only 2 are known to exist in the world...once thought to be extinct...you've discovered one...worth a million bucks...lets discuss my finder's fee...DrMerle
Rick
The Molly Miller Blenny' date=' also known as the Combtooth Blenny!!!! It has to be it!!![/quote'] Combtooth Blenny covers a subset of blennies that include several species. (46 according to the link I posted above)
ClayTheSavageFraser
So far the molly one is closest. But still not the charactoristics of this fishy! It has a pretty high green dorsal. It is most definitely not a scorpianfish!! Still lookin! CLay
Michael7979
Look into the dragonet family. They 'walk' more then swim. What about a form of sculpin?
defigart
My thought is a sculpin. it doesn't appear to have the classic dragonette or blenny features.
RLaForce
When you see it up close it does have a Blenny look to it. When I first saw it I thought Blenny family.
ClayTheSavageFraser
Then you need to come and check it out again! I looked at all the blenny pics and it doesn't have the head. It's crazy!!
RLaForce
I've been looking with the little extra time I had today and can't figure it out. You know it's a odd fish when the forum can't give you the answer!
ThePremiumAquarium
Definatley a mystery. I would have to guess that it is some kind of basslet or pseudochromis. Its eyes and mouth shape are what I am looking at most. I havn't seen any like this though. Tough one. Nice find!
downhill_biker
I definitely feel that it is a type of sculpin. Not sure what kind, but the head features look just like a sculpin. http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/dec98/913035614.Zo.5.jpg
ClayTheSavageFraser
I know!! I have been lookin at tons and there just isn't one anywhere! It is crazy cool though. It's real passive and chills in a little spot on the bottom and just walks around on his front pectoral fins. He is way cool looking. He's like half blenny, half wrasse, half sculpin! I like him. Please keep lookin guys I appreciate the help. I am still lookin!! I really want to know so that he stays alive and i need to know what his needs are. jptrson
Looks like a small Kelpfish, used to catch them in the tidepools of California.
