thumpersalley
My 2 flowerpots died during this heat (yea no chiller). What can be done with the skeletons? Can new colonies of flowerpots be introduced into it (does it even work that way?) or other corals or do you clean them out & use them as live rock? Rick
I think it can be left in the tank and just used as extra Live Rock. The skeleton should be mostly calcium I think which will not be an issue.
dsoz
Frag plugs. Attach a different type of coral to them. Zoas would look nice growing over the skeleton. If not, they are just pieces of live rock now. Sorry for your loss. dsoz

CA2OR
I put a couple frags of zoa's on one and they took off. I mean literally took over the whole rock and pretty fast too. They were just a common green zoa though too.

thumpersalley
Well, I turned one into a paperweight/conversation piece. Since we do domestic animal & wildlife rescue, people are so interested in the fish tanks, not thinking they are animals too so the first thing they see when they come into the house is the tanks. I plan on placing the clean, dry skeleton out for everyone to touch & see. Not something most people would get to see too often. The other I just washed off the stuff left on it in saltwater & placed it back into my 15.5 gallon. I will eventually get some zoas & place them on there. Thanks to everyone who responded for ideas! snowpunk
saw something today where they used a light like you would use for those little christmas houses and put it underneath the flowerpot skeleton after they hollowed it out a little. One was a little desk lamp and one was a hanging light. Great for a bathroom or a nightlight too. I just thought of this post when I saw it. thumpersalley
That is an awsome idea! I have a dremmel & I know my husband (being involved with r/c cars as much as he is) would love to use my dremmel to do that! I will post pics.
