andy
That no matter how tiny a change you plan on making, no aquascaping job is ever small? DOH!
finch6013
A few weeks ago I moved on rock and before I knew it a few hours had gone by and the whole tank was in shambles

theJenchild
Looks like you two took the talk to heart. I'm so going to re-scape my tank too! I just have to get some PVC to build one of the little stands that Scott was showing us. It'll be great!
andy
Yes, I blame Scott Fellman ;-)

siskiou
Is there going to be a write-up about "the talk"? I think my tank could benefit from some serious rearranging!
Michael7979
Kris had a video camera. Maybe she will post a link of it.
finch6013
Scott did a great job but I think he could have done more to teach techniques of how to accomplish the different styles of aquascaping. All I really got from him was a bunch of pictures that any of us can obtain with google. he did give some good ideas on the rock lifts and towers, but I would have liked to see him go into more detail on some topics. It was great having him there and he did a great job with what he presented.
reefboy
yea it never fails for me either lol I use PVC feet under the sand or combined with egg crate and seems to give me a stable ground and now rock wont shift what technique did he use for over hangs? finch6013
I think for the overhangs he suggested a combo of PVC throught the rock and zip ties
andy
He really likes tie-wraps.

Rick
I found this link http://cmas-md.org/forums/showthread.php?t=58772 that appears to be an outline of the same or a similar talk with another group. Even just the outline is enough to give those of us that missed the meeting a few ideas. For those that were able to make it perhaps some of you could fill in a few details. siskiou
I'll be checking out that link for sure! Now I only need some advice how to keep zoanthids from taking over every rock, while I try and make new plans!
theJenchild
I'll be checking out that link for sure! Now I only need some advice how to keep zoanthids from taking over every rock, while I try and make new plans! I have this problem too. My rock-work consists mostly of 2 large caribbean pieces that have some flat smooth surfaces that zoas LOVE to colonize. What I've started to do is put a tiny dab of super glue on a couple piece of LR rubble and glue them around where I want to colonies to end. My plan is to let the zoas grow over the rubble, then pull it off, X-acto the connecting tissue, and BINGO! A frag! All while limiting the growth of my zoa colonies. You let the zoas grow over the whole ceramic rock and over the frag plugs, then once the plug is covered with zoas you cut the connecting tissue, remove the plug and replace with a new one. Viola instant frags!
