  1. Right now im running 2 180w LEDs over my 180 gallon reef and am thinking about adding a 3rd (i have one i have always kept as a backup), in addition to that I am also debating on adding T5's but am unsure if it is needed or would be a good idea. I currently have a little of everything in the tank: LPS, SPS, Zoas, Softies and fish.

I am debating on adding 4- 4' T5's but not sure if thats over kill for additional lighting or if thats a good amount.

  2. Hi All,

Im looking to add more SPS, Brains, and Euphyllia  to my tank, and wondering what frags people have available and how much they are. Im mostly looking for smaller frags to watch grow out, not really looking for big colonies at the moment.

Some things I would really like are:

    Red Planet
    Looking for a yellow SPS
    Interested in most Millepora
Any torches doesn't matter what color
    Frog Spawn
    Hammers
    Favia
    Lobos

If its easier to text my number is 503-961-2504.

I'd make sure different I test a full 100% so you know the real capacity. I'm no expert, but if want to know the range of possibilities

Thanks I’ll test them both like the way you suggested.

I would test at a few benchmark brightnesses so you can know the range available. Maybe 20, 40, 60, 80, 100% or something.

Would you do just blues then just whites or do both or what? Right now I have 6 times set in my programming,

    0700: B= 0 W= 0

    0900: B= 55 W= 5

    1000: B= 80 W= 15

    1200: B= 100 W= 25

    1700: B= 55 W= 5

    2000: B= 0 W= 0

  5. So I was curious when you use a par meter on your tank do you test it when the lights are at the highest intensity of your program or through the daily cycle? I’m thinking of renting a par meter to check my tank but am curious as to when to check it.

  6. So currently the way I have my set up is my RODI goes into a 30 gallon container in the garage controlled using a float valve, then lines ran under the house to a 5 gallon bucket under the tank again controlled using a float valve which then uses a ATO to top off the tank.

In the last 6 months I have flooded my living room 4 times or so (at least 35 gallons each time) because my ATO malfunctions causing it to pump a lot of fresh water into the sump and overfilling it. Im thinking about removing the 30 gallon and the 5 gallon containers and just putting a float valve in the sump directly to get rid of the ATO. Anyone have any horror stories with a float valve failing and flooding everything?

The key to grow is really only 3 things, two of which are easy.
    1. strong current (no, a little more than you think).
    2. good lights
    3. stability

what are the details on your tank? Maybe we can help you out a little.
lights, schedule, flow, etc. what kind of corals? poly extension, etc etc etc

I have a 180 gallon mixed reef. I have some sps (montipora, millipora, and I don’t remember what the others are), hammers, torches, frogspawn, a couple acans, zoas, green sinularia. For movement I have 2 maxspect gyre XF250’s 1 set at 40% pulse and the other set at 20% pulses every 2 seconds. Am doing vodka dosing 10mL 2x a day, and have a calcium tractor set up.

My lights are 2  reefcorner 180W programmable LED’s. The channels are as follows (time/%)

    b1: 0700/0, b2: 0900/55, b3: 1000/80, b4: 12/100,  b5: 1700/55, b6: 2000/0

    w1: 0700/0, w2: 0900/5, w3: 1000/20, w4: 1200/35, w5: 1700/15, w6: 2000/0

    n1: 1800/0, n2: 1900/20, n3: 2000/55, n4: 2100/85, n5: 2200/55, n6: 0100/0

  8. I’ve heard mixed on it and figured I would give it a shot, partially because I see people dosing that along with some other stuff and seem to have way better growth then me so just trying something new

This is something I was wondering for reef Fuel as well if I want to set it up with one of the new xl Bluetooth dosers and it says it needs to be shaken well/refrigerated after opening if anyone has input on that too?

Ya that’s one thing I thought about was the refrigeration but both zooplankton by brightwell and the acropower both said they don’t need refrigeration.
