  1. I picked up a new clown 3 weeks ago and he has been in my qt tank with just a pvc t to hide and sleep in. The only problem is he doesn't like to come out of it even to eat and if he does eat he has to see it floating infront of the pipe and he will nab it.

He doesn't seem to have any other problems just doesn't want to come out, is there a way i can help get him out of it so i can fatten him up so i can move him into my dt? I do spot feed him some frozen brine a couple of times a week to make sure he does get some food.

I recommend autotopoff.com. Get a relay with float switch and solenoid valve to fill your reservoir, but put the solenoid on a timer that runs maybe an hour twice a day. I've been running like this for about 10 years.

Sorry kind of forgot i asked this question.

What i have is a 2 55g tanks one for salt and other ro/di. What i did was just put my float that is in my ato reservoir straight from my ro/di filter system and i'm burning up the di within a two months. Which now I understand and didn't think about it.

So my thought is taking a line from my ro/di storage tank and pressurizing it up with some kind of pump with a pressure cut off system, and only fill the storage tank when needed in one line run instead of on and off all the time with my current setup.

  3. Lol my female clown would probably kill it, she is even rough on the male at time. I don't have a lid installed, I do have one from red sea to put together but up in air about installing it.

I would live a flamed angle but I heard they don't play nice with other angles.

  4. I just about have all my fish in from my stock list and I there is a lot of room left and could use some ideas to help stock the rest of my 100g. I currently have a pair of clowns, 3 green chomis, and a coral beauty. The only other fish i would like to add is a yellow tang in a couple of months when i start to get an algae growth for him and the coral beauty. I would like to add a rtba for the clowns in a couple of months as well but other than that no other plans for now.

I think you would have to have a hole in your head to spend what they are asking for them new.  A light, some plumbing, and a plastic sheet..$500?

     B@#%$ please.

Oh wait, I take it back, this totally looks like it is worth $1000.  https://www.santa-monica.cc/SURF8-or-SURF8x--built-to-order-floating-surface-2-compartment-upflow-scrubber-with-Green-Grabber-surfaces--8-cubes-feeding-per-day_p_64.html

But wait there us more for only 35 dollars and a small shipping and handling fee we can send you a second one.

  6. @SuncrestReefdo you use a dosing pump or just a powerhead.

If I plumb it off my holding tank I would need a way to tell the pump to kick on since I don't have a controller yet. I was thinking of using a pressure switch at the holding tank to kill the pump and when the float opened up it will turn the pump on and stop it when it hit a certain pressure.

  7. I got a reservoir in my sump that I installed a float system to keep it full, but doing so it seems im burning through my di resin really fast. I don't have an auto flush system on my ro/di system, was thinking of adding one if that will help or should I come off my ro/di holding tank.

  8. I see that TapaTalk is coming back with their Pro version and pushing it hard on people.

Thanks for trying to make it work y'all. I'll be honest, my presence is greatly reduced without Tapatalk. As user friendly as our platform is, nothing beats Tapatalk for me. I've been an ad free Tapatalk supporter for a few years and it's definitely been worth it.

I agree Higher Thinker this is the first time i've been on in over a week.

  9. I'm assuming they were acting fine when you picked them up? What are you using to test for salinity/ammonia?
No chance they where they came from was running lower salinity?
Yes fine when i got them, they were swimming hard in the bag on the way home. Just the badge for the amm and my refract for salinity. Not sure I didn't test the shops water. Just did a couple of oz of tank water to the bag for 20 minutes.

I just checked on them and they seem fine now, i turned off my kitchen lights and left them be for now. Ill add some pvc parts for hiding places tomorrow.

  10. Well big day picked up two clowns for the tank.

Floated them for 30 minutes and then added about an added water for another 20 minutes. One of them seems just fine was swimming a little bit but now he is hovering over his friend who is on his side. His breathing is kind of fast at times. Not sure what I should or could do. These guys are in my qt tank with 1.026 no amn. I used io bio-stater last week in it.

I setup and tested out one of my doser pump an X1 and it will be pumped in this weekend to push the new water to the sump and the other will push from the tank side. I don't have an pics of the birds nest of wires that i still need to take care of under the tank but its there and should be squared away this weekend.
