He's really an awesome fish. He puffs up every few weeks, I've heard it may be to stretch out.

This one's gonna be tough to part with but it's time to get rid of Gilbert, our ~6" porcupine puffer. He has tons of personality (he's more like a dog than a fish). This fish requires alot of attention as he's, well, a fatty. Very healthy and has never bothered any fish or corals (inverts are another story). $50 firm or possible trades for a nice tang, reef safe angel, anemone, or corals (I will be picky about trades). Pnwmas gets first crack, next week he'll be on Craigslist. Thanks! 

Thanks for all the advice guys, I think I will look into a par meter (mostly for fun). I have tried different lights and intensities over the 6 or 7 years I've been reefing and do agree that the corals will tell you of they don't like something

Very interesting, thanks nate. I'm collecting a handful in hopes of them breeding eventually, any idea if different species can breed with each other?

It's the reefbreeders photon 48 with 102 3w leds. I started with a stylo (I heard that was a hardy sps) on the sand, should I move it up to the center?

Just wondering what everybody has their leds set at. I turn my evergrows up occasionally (over the past 5 years) and am currently at 60% white and 80% blue. I'm happy with where they are set now but I am just starting to reintroduce SPS on the sand bed and want to make sure I don't burn anything. 

Just picked up the one on top and 2 on the bottom (the 2 in the center I've had for a while and know they're rock nems). Was told they're rock nems and they're sticky like they should be but the tentacles look different then I'm used too. Can someone id them for me? Thanks 

Are they red flatworms? There are a few wrasses that may eat them. I could be wrong but I think the dragonet would as well. Then there's flatworm exit, I've heard good things about it but you want to siphon out as many as you can first so the mass die off doesn't crash your tank. 

Get a dragonet!

That's sort of the approach I take during regular feeding time. Give him a crab and while he's eating It i feed the other fish.

I am hoping to find some type of contraption that will keep the seaweed from him while the tangs eat it. Typically I would agree to feed the fish until it stops eating but I've read that these puffers will eat themselves sick?? 

Hey guys thanks for the welcome. Ya I love the shape of the 60" tank. My old 48" light still works for it and it "almost" fits on my stand. Krux that is the flipper magnifier and I really like it (except I do worry that while my kids play with it the plastic border around the magnifying glass may scratch the acrylic). 

New member here. I've been apart of another reef forum over the years but it seems the "frontier" isn't what it used to be. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone in the pnw is up too. My current tank is a 60" 125g acrylic with a homemade stand. I just upgraded to it and am loving FINALLY having a reef ready tank. 

I swear he never stops eating

Anybody figure out how to keep your porcupine puffer from eating all the seaweed? He gets his own nori clip but also sucks it out of this clip.. Not sure what else to try, my tangs aren't happy!
