  1. Plug it in and run it!
You'll know real quick what is missing or broken [emoji6]

I did plug it in and run it I think it's missing a bubble plate or something I get one line of bubbles that travel to the top and start to collect in the neck I don't think it's right I just put it in a 10gl I had with some hose water to test it don't know if that's a good enough test though idk if salt makes a difference in how thay are supposed to work

  3. To be honest tho- it looks more like a bug than a crab to me. Did it have a pair of claws? If it is a zoa spider that is very bad news. From what I understand they lay their eggs in living zoa polyps- making them exceedingly difficult to eradicate once established in a tank.

Great iam going to have to look tomorrow I think I saw claws but I have to be shere now mybe I will take hem in to premium aquarium tomorrow and ask that where I got the Zoeas now iam paranoid I have had enough issues with the tank and don't need a nother thank u for all the info I don't have anyone I know of close that's in Monmouth Or so this forum has kinda been my life line so to speak

  4. Haha. I gotcha. I've had numerous hitchihiker crabs over the years. From my experience- fuzzy crabs tend to be the bad guys while smooth shells tend to be pretty mild mannered citizens.

Honestly, if it's as teeny tiny as it appears in the picture and you have any wild collected SPS I would guess it's some kind of Acro Trapezia Crab. Those crabs are a MASSIVE boon to sps. They really do a lot of good for fragile or finicky sps corals.

That's great info it is supper tiny mybe an 1/8" but that might even be pushing it it not Fuzzy and the only reason I saw hem at all is cuse my blue lights picked up the white markings and iam addicted I'm always staring at my tank my wife probably thinks I'm nuts

  5. That looks like a tick. Maybe a Zoa spider. Never seen one before.. good call, probably nothing good

I just got some Zoeas the other day on a piece of rubble rock so that makes sense still new to reefing keeping so iam seeing all this for the first time it's still alive I put it in a container with some tank water tell I could get an id on it don't know if I should put it back in my tank just trying to figure out if it's a pest that will eat my coral [emoji47]

  8. I had mag at 1600+ before and didn't really seem to hurt anything to bad. Never had cal. that high but did have it just above 500.  What type of salt are you using?  I had been using red sea coral plus which had high elevated levels of mag cal and alk which was causing swings everytime i did a water change. I couldn't figure out why my mag and cal kept climbing up till i tested the water i was using for water changes, mag was over 1600 and cal was over 500. Switched salts to aquaforest which mixes a little below my goal on all parameters and i just use a little 2 part to raise to desired level. I also Started dosing 2 part with a dosing pump at the same time and my water parameters have been very steady ever since.  Test the water you are using for your water changes and make slow adjustments till you find a sweet spot.

That's is great advice I have been using kent and ran out so I had to get a new Bach maybe it's just not as consistent as the last one would the high levels cause issues I don't know how high on those is to high

  9. Ok so I came home tonight to a tank that I had covered with a blanket thinking it may have been a alge thang not any better so I tested and came up with
    Apia tests of
    7.8 ph
.25 or .00 ammonia hard to tell
    0 nitrite
    0 nitrate
    0 phosphate

And with red sea tests of
    9.8 kh
About 650 calcium wow is that to high
1600 mag. Is that to high
    1.025 salinity

So I did about a 40% wc and it looks better but I still don't have high hopes I fill like I have been kicked in the u know what I that I could do this I have been keeping fresh water for years cc862a233c2747011b15d3d8e01ca86e.jpgfc5ad6946e2289b2f4cbc84bd39031df.jpg

  11. Just keep an eye on things, they may just perk up one things stabilize, especially if parameters fall into place.

That's kinda what I thought all my water parameters look ok but my tank water is really hazing and all of the corals are closed up and starting to let go of that brown stuff8554c9bc355586e0e19d7f7bdb86f062.jpg26726fdc344602c30658cebbfdf61a34.jpg39329458e3b04883619daeac71f0973e.jpg

  12. Sudden changes usually makes for unhappy corals, test your parameters and just make sure they are all in check. When making changes, even for the better, try and do it slowly. Hopefully the "stringy stuff" isn't expelled zooxanthellae.

I I know thay don't like sudden change an issue think that was my mistake what if it is zooxanthallae what should I expect to see are thay going to die
