  1. Soooooo...... this tank had a crash when I went on vacation 3 weeks ago. My house sitter....sucks. My main display tank is all good to go and I have been considered finding this tank a home before this happened. Luckily it is not infested with any hair algae just cyano. Three other fish that were in the tank perished. There is one remaining little clownfish in there that is very personable and is apparently a fighter. He was is and most likely still is a male given the time frame his female died.

I know the photos aren't the best but this system has been beautiful in the past and I am sure someone could come along the "pretty woman" this tank back into better shape. This has always been my stable backup tank that I have never had to worry about the parameters being out of check. Believe me when I say it took some out of the ordinary circumstances to get it to where it is now. I lack the motivation and time to give it the appropriate amount of attention to whipping it back into shape.  I am working full time, have three dogs, am up keeping my main display, and my dad is going to be coming to stay with me next week (unexpectedly) for probably over a month for a job he'll be working at in my area. It would be nice to not have this system in the room that he will be staying in.

The system will come with...drum roll please:
-Sick as hell stand, modify as needed
    -Filter socks
-Live rock that lives in the tank and sump
    -Volunteer Kenya trees
    -Return/sump pump
    -Sand
    -*Maybe* some sand sifting critters
    -1 badass clownfish
    -Heater + Controller

The sump pump is approximately a year old. The remora skimmer had it's pump replaced within 1.5-2 years and has been cleaned regularly. The system has a drilled overflow that could be modified to suit your needs.

Currently, the system is using a Sky Blue A150W Kessil with a gooseneck attachment. I'm not exactly sure on the age of this light but purchasing it to come with the system is an option. It's also open to anyone not interested in the system since it, hopefully, will not be needed.

  2. Righty-O. I've made the decision to downgrade one of my tanks and have decided to part out my apex parts. Everything is functional and in solid condition. I can ship if anyone is not willing to pick up in Corvallis, but won't pay for shipping (everything here is relatively small so shipping will be very minimal).

    PM2+Probe $87

    VDM+Dimming Cable $70

MPR (a few months old with box) $20

    Salinity Probe $75

  3. Looking to buy a WXM. Let me how much you would part it for. I would need it shipped.

The base unit, energy bar, temperature probe, and wxm are gone. Sorry.

  4. Can't help you on price - but people are always looking for APEX stuff so you'll move it if you want to.

You might also try one of the national forums as well. Plenty of great people here who need stuff, but no reason to not reach a largest target. You'll just have to ship.

I'd try searching through reef2reef or something to find some common prices. My guess is that you'll end up making more off the individual pieces, but will maybe get a faster purchase if it's all in one at a reasonable price.

Thanks, I was leaning in the direction of parting everything out but wasn't quite sure if it was worth it or not.

It hasn't quite occurred to me to reach out to a larger group. I'm not currently a member of any other forum. Thanks for incepting that idea.

  5. Hey all,

I have a partial Apex system with the following stuff:
    PM2+Probe
    VDM+Dimming Cable
    Base Unit
    MPR
    ALD+Solid Surface Detector
    WXM
    Salinity Probe
    Temp. Probe
+A lot of the connector cables

Do you think it's worth the time to part the system out or is do all you cool forum users think that it's smarter to offer the items as a package deal? I'm not sure how much I should price it out for?

I am breaking down my systems because I'll be moving and with my swarm of dogs I think it would be easier for me to find a place without the burden of a 93 gallon cube system.

I think the E8 bar works but am not sure
I know I severed the cable for the display. It's more for parts

  6. Tunze ato top-off for sale. Works perfectly and is roughly 1.5 years old (I'm almost positive on that). Complete system. The tubing required replacement (it's a superficial part that's replaceable) and I may have some replacement tubing for the pump. Only imperfection is with the case. I stepped on it and broke the small tabs that keep the housing together. I fixed it by just taping the box closed and have no issues with the system. If you wanted to get fancier than electrical tape good old fashion super glue would work. There are no broken or jagged edges. Asking $100. Anyone let me know if you think the price is unreasonable.

  7. Polycarbonate sump. Manufacturer information now known. No leaks. I had this setup partially as a refugium. It could be used as a sump only. Designed to hold 6" filter socks. Has 3 spots for probes. Previously housed pH, Conductivity/Salinity, and temperature probe for an APEX. There are other probe locations available near filter sock.  I used a Reef Octopus but imagine it will seats any protein skimmer well.

Based on general water heights from past use I believe it's roughly 15-18 gallons. Dimensions are HxLxW= 16"x30"x12". With the flow I had setup the water height for the return compartment was 6.5". The main compartment has a length of 19.5" with a water height of 8.5". System was used for a 93 gaL system.

Photos are right after remove. Since has been cleaned and is collecting dust in my garage. Asking $80. I live in Corvallis.

  8. It has two ultra thin conductivity wires that accompany the positive and negative wires. They are pretty delicate and I don't know if splicing them is really the best thing to do.

If all else fails I'll be sending it to a friend who works for Intel to use better tools to repair it.

  9. Over the weekend I was cleaning and despite having my Apex housed part of my display wire was exposed. My vacuum sucked it up, bound it up, and severed the cord. No bueno.

Does anyone have an extra display or the skills to repair it? A friend of mine looked at it and deemed that they didn't have nice enough tools to properly solder the connections into place. There are 4 connections 2 of which are conductive wires? Who knew.

He "looked" at it and peeled away the epoxy and tried to solder it. So it's been tampered with. I have another repair taking place and was considering sending it with my E8 and controller. But there is a chance they will refuse to repair the unit.

  10. I'm in Corvallis and have 3 normal RBTA. That being said they are sized from small dinner plate to large dinner plate. I've been considering thinning my herd.
