  2. Hey guys as I'm sure a few had seen my posts about building a new stand I've nearly complete the setup now new stand is in its final home everything is hooked up and running.

All my corals managed to make it through the 2 months in a Rubbermaid and then back to the tank, got my dozers full and am finishing hooking up my reactors.

The only coral not so happy is the green star polyps they've been dormant for about a week, hopefully they come back out soon.

And my aquascap as of today, it's sad not having very many fish but dory has really become fond of me now, she used to hid every time I got near the tank cd3cb3579a486a94f7cd5d1a271984ba.jpgdcbd4a7ed1f7a865d7372690a04d12c4.jpg177dbeb2bf20a9aaf45dcef18a125a63.jpgb87e7a7943543e18c65cade7955874f0.jpg

  3. Is this for your 50gal sca cube? What do you need exactly?

indeed it is I would need the flow ball joints that actually squirt the water in not sure what they're called

Finished all the plumbing just need to add some doors and we'll be good any suggestions for hinges? My doors aren't exact fits because I'm reusing the ones from our kitchen remodel. c6d64cb021b62cfb9f02f3a70dfb0749.jpg

  5. I recently broke my sump it's cracked major.

Does anyone have a sump about 18x31 or there abouts I could always go smaller.

I know petco has $1 gallon sell but I can't cut glass for the sections.

Unless you can cut glass :)

  6. Always something new, my sump broke today while moving it. Shiza!

Anyone have an extra sump with dimensions similar or smaller than 18x31inches? The $1 gallon sale is going on, but I don't know how to make a simp out of a tank, never done it before!

  7. As far as gaps go, I usually just use painters caulk. Yes seal it before painting will make wood much more stable to saltwater. Lastly sand to 180 grit before painting and it will look good and use wood filler or spackle for minor imperfections

So it would seem as though when making things of wood this is normal persay? Glad to hear I feel dumb cause I know I measured twice and cut once but gosh!

  8. Looks good bro, just use a belt sander on the ends of a little to high. I sanded everything else with a 5" orbital sander 80 120 and 180 grit. Seal it with kilz or any other sealer then couple coats of paint. I prefer to spray it with finish tip to get nice flat furniture quality finish but brushing with right paint and brush can get you close

    Seal first then paint?

Also is it normal to have any gaps? And how to fill them? Just wood filler? Make sure it's all smooth of course.

And thanks for the tip about spraying, however no spray gun for me so a smooth brush and or a superfine roller was suggested.

Now that it's all together I will take my sweet time finishing this stand it's got to look good!

  9. You should see how I have my tank supported. Totally the opposite of what I said.

opposite of what you said? So is my stand good or does it scare you?

  10. The supports line up with the corners of the tank?

I'm going to assume the tank is glass.

If so then the only thing I would add are a two 2X4s on the outside of the supports running front to back.

What are you planning to skin it with?

I'm skinning it with plywood, it's going to end up black so I wasn't too concerned with the type of wood as long as it could be sealed.

  11. I do have a rather dumb question, either my woodworking skills are terrible or it's not that easy to cut perfect straight lines but have you ever had a little too much?
