I love my porthole. I'm in Hawaii right now and I brought it along. Looking for some tidepool shots while I'm here. That is of I can get out of the deep water long enough.

There is noone here that is obsessed, except for Brad (Reefnjunkie). I can quit anytime I want. I just don't want to.

I lost my yoda's to the little bastages. If you read this Matt, please put me in line for another frag when you have some. I have been on a mission to eradicate them from the reef. I've cought them on the bam bam's, tubs blues, true red pe's, and several other zoas. My blue linkia eats them occasionally, but I mostly feed them to my dog faced puffer. He eats them like popcorn.

Lets show those up in Havannah on the Willamette how we reef in the south valley.

At this point there is still no tank and no sump. There is a large round hole in the back of the stand. A box fan is not out of the question. I simple humidity switch could be attached to the reef keeper to activate the fan. Hmmmmmmm.

Here is a 30 gal I'm building. I've used quite a bit of velcro to attach controllers for the MP-10, skinner, etc because they dont have any kind of mounting. I also used a length of panduit wire channel as Bombertech suggested. Also a few zip ties, they're cheap and easy.

I've used a turkey baster and blasted water at the base of the foot before. Once you get an edge the you can continue to baste or wave water at the base with your hand.

The power strip does not have a timer and should be plugged into a gfci outlet. It does however make it easier to keep things straight.

Sun corals are kind of fickle. They will generally extend their polyps at dusk or shortly after lights out. They prefer low flow and low light. However, you can train them to extend during daylight hours by feeding them during the day. Too much light will pester them to death.

Sand and rock in a qt make meds hard to control. Especially copper, where the line between therapeutic and toxic are so slim. Both will absorb copper, and other meds. Sounds like bacterial or fungal infection. Furan, I think I'm remembering right, can help if you can find it. There are a couple of milder antibiotic medications that are common and readily available. I'm sure someone else will chime in with a better memory. Sucks getting old.

I always keep several squares of filter flow in the sump of my display tank so I always have an instant bio filter for qt. I know it's a little late now but a thought for the future.

If you can continue to do large water changes daily you can keep the nitrite down but it makes meds hard to control.

I've got a two chamber acrylic that's 20" long x 10" deep x 15" high.

How big a sump are you looking for? What are the dimensions of the cabinet this sump will go in?
