  1. Saw that a while back when I was looking into a stand for my 90, design is cool but figuring out the plumbing to be able to drag the sump out that far seems like a lot of work, unless you just do quick disconnects and shut everything down. Which is not so bad. I say go for it. I just built mine to be tall enough to get in and out of it easily.

  2. You never close your eyes any more when I kiss your lips And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips You're trying hard not to show it baby but baby, baby I know it

You've lost that loving feeling, oh that loving feeling You've lost that loving feeling, now it's gone, gone, gone

Now there's no tenderness in your eyes when I reach for youAnd girl you're starting to criticize little things I doIt makes me just feel like crying baby 'cause babySomething beautiful's dying

You've lost that loving feeling, oh that loving feelingBring back that loving feeling, now it's gone, gone, goneAnd I can't go on, no oh oh

Baby, baby, I get down on my knees for youIf you would only love me like you used to doWe had a love, a love, a love you don't find every daySo don't, don't, don't let it slip away

Bring back that loving feeling, oh that loving feelingBring back that loving feeling, now it's gone, gone, goneAnd I can't go on, no oh oh

    Lmao now THAT'S funny!!

  3. Doesn't seem like your doing anything wrong, mine is placed nearly exactly like yours and it thrives, how are your water params? Stung by anything? Fish eating at it??

  4. I like how SWF has a sign up that says if prices are negotiated, then no 14 day guarantee. I never negotiate prices at retail shops, but I think that is a fair approach for someone who wants too.

This isn't a cheap hobby, but it is funny how people spend thousands of dollars on their equipment and want to knock $10 off a $20 fish. For me it is about the quality and health of the livestock. If a LFS or online store has nice healthy fish, then it really doesn't matter what they cost. I would absolutely pay double or triple the cost if I know the long term survival is guaranteed. (I don't want my money back if it dies, i just want to know that it will live for an extended period of time)

I think there is a big market for more Diver's Den types of stores, where the fish are properly acclimated, treated for parasites and proven eaters before they are sold. I know this isn't practical for most LFS, but there is a need for this type of business. How many of us have purchased fish that have been bagged and shipped 2-3x within the week, to only have them perish a few days or weeks later? How many have bought fish that are infested with parasites like flukes or ich and nuked the entire rest of the tank, because we didn't QT at all or didnt QT long enough? I have certainly made these mistakes. It is frustrating for me to buy new livestock because their is a high probability that the fish will not survive even if I do everything correctly.

Very valid about the buying of fish and it nuking our tank even if we try to qt them and don't do it long enough.

  5. I should get an award for being thread jacked lol! I started out complaining about people who jump into this hobby with no clue and kill tons of fish, ad the people who want to offer someone (lfs owner) or even people like re run and I who buy and sell stuff a lot half of what they or we are asking. But hey 1000 views in a day is pretty legit haha

  6. wanareef builds alot of tanks his work is very nice from what I have seen He did franks cube and cuttlefishandcorals two tanks and sump he is also working on frankb tank. And those are just the ones I know off the top of my head cause I built all the stands for them. Speaking of such if you would like a steel stand for it give me a yell I will whip one up for you.

Sounds good! Once I get the lighting for it I Have pretty much everything I need, going to flip my 40b into the sump for it so it's just waiting on lights, and the go ahead for a other build from my better half lol

  7. +1 on a small cycle, my 40 had one with all the water from a 29, I'm assuming your fling a sump, that's more water volume if so, also it's just much safer to let it do it's thing for a few months to see how it's going to respond to the rock, bio load, etc. But to each their own. I just do it safe, tends to help with headaches down the road.

  8. Whoa!! This is not where I intended this to go guys!! I simply was saying I wish people would do more research and quit bickering and beating up shop owners on price lol. While i agree with a lot of valid points being brought up, let's try to keep it respectful. Kim makes valid points about a way a business should be run, but let's all agree to disagree!!

  9. Looking to have a rimless 90 gallon cube built. Not sure what the dimensions are. Probably could figure it out on google but I'm being lazy :) anyone have a tank built locally? If so experience with who you used. Price? Turn around time etc. alterego told me about a guy on the forums but I forgot the name! Also what's your opinion on the best dimensions for a 90 cube?

  10.

Oh and so far in the 2 1/2 years I've been in this hobby the only legacy I've heard about is their rudeness!!

I was also on the same page kimberlee, until I met Tom. He is extremely nice and knowledgable. I never thought I'd say this but even Travis has been nice when I've been in there the last few times. I once said I'd never go back in there and then I met Tom. But I would fully understand why someone would not go back.

  11.

I didn't say that, just said it's not the best ich free. Kind of a silly debate at this point. He has ich in his tanks just like every other shop. Putting nfs doesn't prevent the fish from getting ich and he waits till it's not visible like all other shops and then sells it. You can't expect a lfs to hold onto a fish for 8 weeks in an ich free environment. They would go out of business way too fast

Agreed, every store has ich whether you see it or not. QT your fish!!! Sometimes ya get lucky, sometimes ya loose 500 dollars in fish... Juss sayin

Noob I'll shoot you those measurements once I get home in a pm. Out at dinner with the fam

  12. I'm totally in agreement about posting prices. I'd love to even know the names of what I'm looking at, since I'm a relative newbie.

I think this thread has actually provided some good feedback for the local stores. If I owned a shop, I'd certainly look at this and take it to heart.

Yea that was difficult for me too in the beginning. I'd walk in ooooooh look at that?! Wife would ask what is it? Me... Not a clue lol looks expensive tho! In Patrick's (salt water fanta seas) coral tank

He numbers them, and then has a sheet that tells you what they are and price. Kind of nice to have for anyone. Especially ones new to the hobby.

  13.

I'm sorry but woody dosen't hold a candle to what upscales has done with sps. They are in a whole other class as far is corals. Woody is a great guy and most the lfs are but they don't have what upscales has.

Agreed Travis has incredible coral. He has led the coral game forever in Portland.

  14. I get taken care of at both the stores I go. I think it's mainly due to never really hassling them. I agree that when prices are not marked and you ask, then they look at you like...... Uhm.... 60 bucks sound good?? That def stands for some bartering lol.
