  1. Howdy,

I am looking to have a fairly diverse and community type reef, if there is such a thing.

    5 firefish (have 2)

    2 Orange stripe prawn goby(have 1)

2 yasha haze/hi fin red banded

1 yellow eye kole tang (have but will add near last)

    1 purple tang

    2 red mandarins

2 pairs (if possible) clowns true perc and skunk

    2 pajama cardinal

2 royal gramma or dotty back compatibility?

I also want to have a great deal of shrimp and crab inverts.

Here is where I am hoping for some input. I want see active or grouping mid water column fish that won't compete with the mandarins. So I know six lines and leopards, choris, etc will be much better hunters and may cause issues for mandarins. Anthias perhaps? I am open to them. Flasher wrasse perhaps?

Any thoughts are appreciated and additions. I have 235 volume

  3. Paratore, is your tank acrylic? I would feel more comfortable scraping coraline by hand with a plastic tip. Too afraid to scratch h with a scrape on a magnet!

Smann, you are also acrylic? That magnet just has a lot going for it, and worth the price for the hammerhead.

I put 6 of the marine pure media balls in my 30 gallon a year ago and I've got a 4x4x8 block of it in the sump that I put in with the spheres on 1/29. Threw a frozen cube in and that should get things going.

I hope you have a mixed reef that is as diverse as it is beautiful. I love sps and will have a great deal, however I want to house the most diverse and communal organisms as possible.

As such, I would like to propose a stocking list once I've ironed a few must haves out that I will share.

Thank you for any and all feedback.

  6. Thanks for weighing in. So you are saying the drains are critical to have 1.5, and what about the returns? I know I am not using .75 bulkheads. I am the flexpipe is 1 inch and fits on the attachments that fit in the bulkhead, those are .75 are you saying?

I wouldnt even know how to begin making larger drains in the external overflow.

  7. You lose more pump head pressure with flex tubing. That being said, it's much easier to place than cutting pvc corners, turns, etc. When are you trying to get this done? Last week of the year is probably the busiest for most folks.

What kind of head loss are we talking here? I am looking as soon as possible. Whenever is convenient for whomever.

    Thanks for the response.
