Ah ok gotcha. Its 1-2 inches... depending on where the gobby wants some sand lol (prob 3 inches in the middle today).

That brace is really annoying all the sudden lol. You cant notice it would a T5 HO setup... but the MH you can. Good news is someone locally might want to trade me tanks (his is 60G corner, mine is 46G bow)... it has no brace. So i might be able to get a single 250w MH!

I added some phosphate filters to my sump. Should i stir up the sand to get the sand bed mixed up and release phosphates so the filter can do a quicker job?

Want a MH + T5 actinic fixture setup for 36" tank. Needs to be dual MH since my tank is a cross support brace. Thanks

Half my tank gets an hour or two of sunlight a day through my front window if i open the blinds... my fish seem to love it. Colors don't pop as much though but works out since the lower half gets the most light where the T5's don't seem to provide enough.

SOLD This anemone (top center of picture) has gotten a little large for my 46G. When he is out he casts to much of a shadow so its making it hard to rearrange my tank the way i want it. Needs a larger home. He has been attached to this large rock for over 6 months. Killed off probably 1/3 of the zoos on the rock. Rock used to be 2/3+ covered in all green zoos. Rock is probably twice the size of the anemone. Selling both (unless you can get him off) for $80 or trade (open to offers).

+1. Had one with my first tank. I tried everything but never could get a nice dark skim. Had to adjust daily.

1 huge turbo 2 large turbos 3 medium turbos 7 narcissus 2 blue leg crabs (1 large, 1 small) 1 diamond goby 1 engineering goby (considered clean up?) I'm going to get a few more narcissus next month since i've found a few empty shells over the last year. i blame the blue leg crab :\ I don't want to add any more turbos since they move everything around at night.

I kind of figured it was a cycle but its been almost of a month of noticeable brown... and its just increasing. Today is probably the worst i've seen it. Nothing else has shown signs of stress except the Kenya Tree. Some reason i had a few random starts that attached themselves die off 1-2 weeks ago. I pulled them out since they looked pretty nasty. And to add, i have a sorta hidden Koralia #3 power head in the rocks on the left, Koralia #2 on the right (added some filter stuff around it last night since my gobby keeps kicking up a bunch of crap off the rocks the last few days) and a smaller power head in the very back left pushing water behind the rocks.

Tank has been setup for over a year. A couple weeks ago i had a return line from my sump blow when i wasn't home. Lost probably 10-15 gallons of water and replaced (have a RO unit so mixed it up myself, pretty normal). Now the bottom of my tank is turning pretty brown during the day (when lights are on). Been going on since December. Was kind of embarrassed when i had family over for the holidays and the tank appeared to look dirty. Thanks for the info! I think i for sure want MH+T5... just want to find a good quality setup without spending a a ton of cash.

Good price but looks a little cheapish...anyone seen these in person? I want to make sure to get a system that lasts. I also assume the bulbs in those systems are junk since the system is so cheap... that or not included.... the decription lacks. Next month I'm making a road trip to visit some stores up around Portland... maybe someone will have something simular.

If i do dual vipers would i miss the actinic color i have now with my T5's?

Ive been looking at MH+T5 fixures but most 36" are 1 MH. Only 2MH+T5 i found was over $800 (cant remember brand, came up on a google search). I was hoping for something around 500ish. I found the K-2 Viper because 2 of those at around $180 is less than $400.

My tank is a middle plastic bar in the middle top (i assume for support). Does that have any affect on the light if its in the middle?
