  1. I have a cheap 216 watt t5 ho odyssea fixture that doesn't even have individual reflectors. In the fixture I have two ati blue plus, one ati aquablue special and one ati purple plus. I do weekly 12.5% water changes and keep my nitrates at zero and my phosphates at zero maybe that's why everything stays so clean.

Also I only have one tang. I can't get far enough back to get a full tank shot, so I have to take mutiple shots and use a software program to put them together. My tang was swimming around and was in more than one picture, making it look like I have two tangs.

  2. Those look to be Picasso's man' date=' or possibly Platinums, I get those 2 confused all the time, either way, they probably, and I stress that probably in the hopes that Barelycuda will chime in with his expert opinion, not get too much more in the way of black.[/quote']

    They are shmocasso's ;)

  3. Ha Ha that's funny :) I have a pair of bangaii's that the male won't hold the eggs past 6 days. It seems it is not uncommon so I guess I will try to start stripping the eggs and incubate them artificially. Kinda sucks as they were supposed to be easy to breed....

I read that young males will do that, or even eat the eggs. Once he becomes more experienced he should stop.

  4. LOL color wouldn't matter to most but have you noticed I like to use it a lot in my posts? No there is no glare from the screen because it doesn't light up in the dark which kind of sucks because you need to use a lamp like a regular book but they do that to save power. My guess is you could probably get something that was cheaper but keeping the wife happy can be priceless!;)

Backlit screens also cause eye strain where the kindle's screen doesn't. That's a big plus in my book (pun intended).

  5. The salinity honestly shouldn't matter that much. Zoas unlike sps aren't that senstive to salinity changes. What kind of fish do you have in the tank? They could be eating them. Zoas don't have the sting of some of the softies. I would be suspicious that something is attacking them as your water parameters look fine and the other softies are doing well.

That's a great thought about fish eating the zoas, that could be the problem. I have seen fish that do fine with other corals, but they eat zoas.

  6. Keep an eye on the bagaii's if you see one or more start to get picked on get it out or it will be dead. Males bangaii's will not school together.

I was just going to say the same thing. Adult bangaii's don't play well with each other, unless they are a mated pair, or all female. Once they get older and they start to pair up let me know and I will buy a pair, I want to be the Barelycuda of bangaiis haha.

  7. I am selling my nice peach colored monti cap and two frags of red sea white pom pom xenia. I'm asking $15 for the peach monti cap, $20 for the larger xenia frag and $15 for the smaller xenia frag. I'll post pictures of the xenia tomorrow once the lights turn on.

I am going to the meeting, so I can bring the corals with me, if people are interested.

  8. I change 5 gallons every week in my 55 gallon tank. That works out to 12.5% because with all the rock and sand I only have 40 gallons in the tank. I am thinking about changing that though and doing a one gallon water change everyday which would be 17.5% weekly.
