  1. So I've had this pair of clowns for about a year now and they have shown no interest in hosting anything. Well they showed interest in a BTA I had. never really moved in but I saw them looking at it a lot and poking at it. Until it found it's way into a powerhead (sad) and I decided not to do another anemone in my reef.

I've had this pulsing xenia for a while now and I decided not to have it in my 55g anymore so in the mean time I tossed it in my 10g. I know think that it was too big for the tank or something along those lines because while it was in there some yellow polyps I had in there started to shrink and have now disappeared to which my fiancee is not to happy because she liked them. A couple of days ago I tossed it back into my 55g ... literally tossed it :p ... and decided to give it to my brother whose 29g reef is nearly empty. He's new and though his tank is near a year old he hasn't bought much however, he just sold his 125g fresh water tank and is looking to do a 75 or 90g reef.

So after all that moving and such with this xenia I notice yesterday that my clowns seem to be swimming around in it... the xenia when in tossed it in there landed in the corner that they normally sleep. Today when I got home I watched them for a while while they rub them selves on it and swim around in it. DOH! Now I can't bare to give it to my brother now that my clowns like it.... crazy little fish...(laugh)

  2. I recently encountered a gentleman that told me of this forum... so i thought i'd check it out. I've been checking it out for the lat two days or so and have come to realize that this page is full of nothing but drama that is unrelated to the "marine aquarium" topic. I was really hoping for a place that a new-comer to the hobby like myself could come to gain knowledge and friendship of others that share my same interests. WEAK!! Good luck selling your clam Andy! Ha

yeah there's a bit of craziness right now... but there is plenty of good info and good people to be had here don't shy away yet... I'm fairly new myself and I've met some great people.

  3. 36x13x20. I know to wait for the nem too thanks I'm planing to take my time with the tank. I figured as much about the clowns but I haven't done any research yet and thought I'd ask and if I were to pick other fish in a nem clown tank what would be some good options?

  4. I've got a new 45g tank I'm slowly setting up and was wondering the best way to go about cycling it? My first tank I did with a damsel, the second was just water, sand and rocks from my other one. This tank I don't want to use a damsel so... that's all I really know and would like some advise.

My plan for this tank is an anemone/ clown tank. I'm also curious about what kind of clowns would be good for a 45g and what kinds are okay to keep together this size of tank (or a bunch of the same kind)? Also what kind of anemones go together well? I'm open to any suggestions.

  5. it opens up a little wider now. I can see into it a little better. it's pink and still looks clam-ish. I don't really know what an oyster looks like (well I'm sure I do but can't picture it at this moment...) I suppose I could look it up heh.

  6. I'm just curious for a rough estimation oh how long it takes dry rock to become live rock? I got 35lbs of dry rock and put a lot of it in my 55g tank. I've also got a 45g tank that I'll be setting up in a couple months. I intend to take a lot of the dry rock I put into the 55 and move it over into the 45. I'm going to be building a new stand and canopy for the 45 and am going to save for a t5 kit to put into said canopy so this may take me a couple months to do meanwhile, the dry rock will be in my 55 in an attempt to make it at least a little live.

sorry for the rambling question heh

  7. so after buying a new tank (thanks Noob lol) I've ((wife)) decided to sell a couple tanks I'm not using. very flexable on prices.

    75g $75

    20g long $15

    29g $25 (pending)

    24 inch Giesemann Basic HQI 1 x 150W Light Fixture - Black

    $180 obo I'm looking to get a 36" t5 retro kit

Was only in use a couple of months before I switched tanks.

    40 lb bag of aragonite

    $40

  8. Yep' date=' the proper T5 reflectors and cooling will allow you to grow just about anything including light loving anenomes and clams![/quote']

My clam is about in the center of the tank but I am sure it would do fine on the sand. My reflectors seem of good quality and the fixture runs really cool. it has 3 fans on it.

  9. Sorry to add another post' date=' but I also wanted to make sure this lighting combo is being used wthout MHs? Clarifying this is most beneficial for LPS as well instead of SPS... right? I've not had any luck with SPS and my T-5s.[/quote']

yes I only have the t5s and no I don't have any sps. just softys and lps

  10. Good thread. I have been wondering about how to set up a good t-5 connection. How is the growth with the above mentioned combination?

good I hope (laugh) it's only been set up with this combo for about 2 hours.

  11. so I got my new lamps today and put them in. I went with the KZ bulb simply because I don't know any better and was open to whatever was suggested. Also a new bulb seemed cool so why not.

I already notice that the tank is a little dimmer but that's ok because the colors.. oh man the COLORS they are incredible to me!!! right now I have nothing but pissed off corals so I'll take pictures later but seeing the change first had is amazing.
