  1. Whats the best way of getting rid of CYano Bacteria? Im starting to turn out the lights for a few days, see if that helps. My skimmer gets pretty nasty after only 3 days, if that has any relation. Just need to find the source of the problem and need some pointers.

    ich?

what if i took a powerhead out of the main tank and put it in the QT for 7 days, do they need a light at all? Also, what about feeding them?

    ich?

Ya its been set up for about 8-9 weeks now. Nitrates were at 5 or 10. phosphates were also low around 0. going to test again tomorrow. Also is it fine to put the clowns in a 5 gallon bucket of saltwater with no light? And should i add the antibiotic to the QT bucket?

    ich?

Did two fresh water dips each at 3 mins, parasites came off in the FW, and the clowns are looking great. One has calm way down and the other is still kinda freaking out. Tried feeding them with some brine shrimp and garlic, but they didn;t seem to want any. Was feeding them dried pellet food for the first 3 days, oops, didn't know any better. Likely this was the cause, which made their skin not as resilient?

    ich?

Ok so these are the only fish in my tank. Rose City told me to do a fresh water dip, for 4 minutes, gave me malachite green to put in my small container for the duration of the fresh water dip, and then said to put them back in my main tank as they are the only fish. Does this sound right?

plan B: what if i fresh water dipped them, put them in a quarantine tank thats 1.021 in salinity a little lower than 1.023 and do a 25% water change in the display tank, add some malachite green to the main tank, then place them back in the main tank. Does this sound better?

    ich?

Noticed some white spots and bumps on my clownfish this morning and one of them has moved out of his normal spot and is now more towards the surface of the water by the powerhead. is this ich? what should i do?

  2. thought i would share a night pic of the tank with the old actinics on. Notice our "heart" cave. Think it looks pretty good for a first tank. And notice the clowns in their spot on the left which they never leave.

  3. Could i get both a lawnmower blenny, and midas? Also, its either a yellow tang or blue hippo, right? not both? I think my next fish would be some sort of wrasse, so i could watch it zip around the rocks. Should i let the Clownfish settle in a little more before adding another fish?

  4. Does anyone have a few suggestions as to a few fish who complement eachothers behavioral patterns? Also, am interested in some fish that "zip" around the tank and are quick, clowns get boring. Maybe a fish that likes to occupy darker areas such as the cave i created with some live rock. So really just some entertaining fish.
