  1. It was a fun game to go to and was cool being so close to Dak and Zeke! Dak drives a nice Bentley. I could have touched it but I don't think security would have liked that!

I would love to see Raiders and Cowboys in the super bowl and I think most people would too over the Patriots!

So awesome!! One of these days I will get to a cowboys game.

Got to go to a Rams/Panthers game at the Memorial Coliseum this season but I could care less of either team. The stadium has so much history though. Was cool to go to it.

  2. Wish I had my tax return money now! I would be all over this. I'm sure it won't last that long. If for some freak chance it does I'll let you know

I felt like it was an aggressive price to offer up and have sell fast. My koi have been doing fine and really don't want to move my wife's car out of the garage to keep the fish in there for the winter..lol

  3. I bought this thinking I was going to set it up for a stock tank in the garage for my koi pond and decided to just let them stay outside. This filter is rated for up to 400 gallons. Retails for $339.

Looking to get $150 new in box

  4. Once again I hope Jesse does not mind me utilizing most of his write up for the rules of the competition. If it is uncalled for please let me know and I will see that it is taken down but if it is fine with you then it is much appreciated.

Well Contestants this is the official thread to post your entries! If you post your entry in another thread it will not count. Contest begins May 1st! You have a week before and a week after to post up your picture. This competition will run 4 months!

Ground Rules: The goal of this competition is to be both educational and fun. I am hopeful the winners will be able to share their "secrets" and truly see how different lighting, supplements, dosing, and tank parameters can make a difference in growth.

Rules and Guidelines for The Premium Aquarium Grow Out Competition.

1.Your first post must include a quick write up of your system in the competition thread. Including tank size, flow, lighting, placement of the frag, frag measurement, equipment (ie calcium reactor, dosing, etc), feeding regiment, etc.

    2. You will be required to post photo updates. The contest will start May 1st. You will be required to post a photo update once a month. I will remind you of this when the time is soon to post. I know life gets busy and people go out of town so you have a 2 week window to post. You will have 7 days before the 1st and 7 days after to post your update. If you do not post within the allotted time frame you will be disqualified.

    3. Please no cheating. This competition is meant to be fun and for bragging rights. Cheaters will be disqualified and banned from any future competitions(PEDS were not used for Frankenfrag).

    4. The frags must remain on the original or similar plug. You may modify the plug if needed example cutting off the stem for placement but only once. You may place the frag anywhere you want in your tank and you may move it to a different spot during the competition but it is frowned upon and you cannot move it to a new tank as the point is to see how the frag does over time in different systems.

    5. Initial photos of frags need to have a top down as well as side shot so we can all see the frag and what you are starting with, a ruler next to the frag to provide proof of coverage is preferred. No hiding encrusting parts in your photos. Not following the rules will cause you to be disqualified, I know that sounds harsh but it is out of fairness to the rest of the group. Remember a lot can happen in 4 months. During the last growout many were DQ'd due to not posting. It's really simple. JUST DO IT. Length of competition: The competition will run for 4 months. This will give us enough time for the frag to grow. A lot can happen in 4 months and a lot of people could drop out, so if you are persistent, you have a chance to win the grand prize. This will give EVERYONE the same advantage\disadvantage with acclimation and so on. Pictures will be required frequently for updates. Final post will be September 7th 2016 for the winner.

Judging a winner: Will be a little different this grow out. The most growth over the frag plug from the initial size wins, Mounding will not be a factor. We will make the final measurements by September 7th preferably with the same ruler used in the initial few posts.

Winner of each category shall have glorious bragging rights along with the honors of choosing a desired "Nick Name" for their winning Goni.

    and there will be prizes...

The first being a $50.00 gift certificate to The Premium Aquarium

and Second wins a choice zoa or SPS frag pack.

and Third will get the zoa or SPS frag pack not already taken by 2nd.

Here I will be including a list of people who have checked in that will be updated over the length of the competition.

    1) Badxgillen-*

    2) Paratore-*

    3) RByer-*

    5)Lexinverts-*

    6) Spectra-*

    8) HigheThinking-*

    17) Eclipse-*

    20) Kenshin-*

Glad to see these are continuing on. Also love the fact that Frankenfrag got a mention in the first thread..[emoji3] keep up the good work bud. Running these are always a challenge.

  5. You guys are really making me want to bring out the Mr. Miyagi hidden somewhere in me. Maybe i'll be better at that than maintaining and keeping a reef stable

I've always wanted a nice backyard pond like you guys have created. It's inspiring :D

And Racoons? Haha! I have a crazy protective Manx, bring it on Raccoons!

No but really, the small electric fence seems like it would work great as i don't actually promote a Racoon Vs. Manx fight club over here, i go as far as not let him outside until around 10:30-11:00am because of this.

I think in my case if i ever decided to take the plunge and try and create one for myself, my main issue, more than likely won't be Racoons but the fact that my Manx loves to bring me his prey "and show it off to me" before he is done with it. Look Dad! as i drop a half dead field mouse on your floor to scurry across your floor running for his life, he does the same thing with Garter snakes all wrapped around his face. So i wouldn't exactly be surprised if he brought me in one of my beloved Koi unfortunately.

I know in the past that this house also had Herron in the yard searching for fish. Hope that won't be an issue. With my job I'm gone from home 3 weeks of the month now so no reef for me anytime soon. The pond is much easier to keep then the reefs I've had over the years. One of these days I will get one again but would need to pay someone to maintain it and that just takes the fun out of having one.

  6. One of my neighbors has a live trap so I might give that a go. Just really want to walk up and enjoy the pond without covering or adding hot wires to it if at all possible. I was going to add a motion light but heard that since I'm in the city it likely won't scare them away. The bigger problem is they likely won't move on since I have about 10 100+ foot pines they live in my back yard. I have no access to them as my tallest ladder is 30 feet and I'm not messing with a raccoon on a ladder anyways..

  7. Sorry to hear that Jack. As far as dumb things, after 7 plus years of being in the hobby, I still can't consistently remember to turn the main tank pump off when I'm doing a water change until all the air bubbles cue me in . [emoji849] Proud to say I did remember today![emoji3]

Didn't you turn the basement into your tank one time with Rodi? [emoji22]

  8. Lost all of the fish last year and called it for the winter. Restarted it all again in the spring and have about 20 fish in the pond now and everything seems to be happy. The only problem I seem to have now is that the raccoons are damaging all my pond plants. Really don't want to put netting over the pond but don't know what else I can do to deter them from hanging out and breaking stuff.
