Its only $80 for shipping if you are under our $150 threshold. From $150-$350 its $44.99. $350+ is free. We need minimum orders of $150 in order to subsidize the shipping costs.

It breaks down like this. Let's use a $100 order as an example. Roughly half the amount is the cost of goods. So right away profit is cut to $50. The boxes and heat packs cost $8-$12 depending on size/qty. So lets say its now down to $40 profit. Our overnight shipping costs range from $45 to most of the west coast and $70 to the east coast. You can see we are quickly not making money or just  breaking even if we don't charge actual rates on smaller shipments and we haven't even factored in our general overhead.

One thing I will look into is a special rate for Oregon. Maybe its just slightly higher than WA and we can do this.

Private Appointment Information
I'm hoping to start posting the specials and raffle items later next week. We always get a lot of questions about scheduling the private appointments so here we go. Remember, no appointment needed to come take advantage of the sale Sat-Sun Nov. 17-18 and we will be restocking Friday November 16th.

If you want first pick of all the great corals and fish + no crowds or waiting, and a guaranteed free gift bag, set up a one hour appointment for Thursday November 15th , Sat AM, or Sun AM. We will be closed to the public during these times, and we will schedule five customers each hour, that will be helped by the five employees working that day. Yes you can bring family or friends as long as they are willing to share the staff member who is helping you. Only one gift bag per appointment holder though. All the sale specials are good during the appointments! Our specials will be posted soon.
If you are interested in scheduling one of these slots please PM me, or email cy@barrierreefaquariums.com, with up to three time slots, in order of preference, that would best fit your schedule. Appointments are available on Thursday November 15th. Appointments start at 10AM and are on the hour. We will break for lunch between 12-1. The last appointments start at 6PM. On Saturday the 17th we will host appointments that begin at 9AM and 10AM. On Sunday the 18th we will host appointments at 11AM. I need your first and last name and a phone number. Barrier Reef's 3rd Annual Frag Swap & Sale

-Save The Date-

Saturday September 9th
10AM - 6PM

We will set up our pop-up tents in the parking lot, and provide table space and electricity for four hobbyists to display frag tanks with frags for sale or trade. This year we are hosting Paul Hamby, Duane Oestreich, Caitlen Ong, and Gene Friend.

Also, after reaching out, we've learned that nobody has shown interest in running the Bob Moore Frag Swap. Barrier Reef feels a close attachment to this event and as a small way to keep it alive, and in public thought, we will have a bring one/take one tank. We will set up a tank and stock it with 30 or so frags. All are welcome to bring one frag and exchange  it for any one frag in this tank. This way there will always be 30 pieces to choose from and the tanks contents will evolve throughout the day. Please limit this to one frag per person and do not bring anything that has pests or is partially dead. We will have a dip bucket available as a precaution.

Any other hobbyists are free to bring coral frags to sell and trade. You can bring your own tables/chairs, cover, tanks, and/or coolers to work out of. We will not be able to provide power for anyone beyond the four mentioned above. registered spots and we cannot allow generators. You can use battery back-ups, Radion/Coral Box power sources or any other silent means to provide power to your frag tank. No registration needed. No entry fees. This is a free event designed to bring the reefing community of the Pacific Northwest together.

Barrier Reef will also be running some amazing specials at the shop. We will post the specials soon.

Setup opens at 8AM. Please watch the weather report closely. If its hot, bring fans and ice packs. If rain is in the forecast bring cover. The event is happening rain or shine!

Anything you all want to do is fantastic. We have seen an incredible amount of support from hobbyists, stores, and product manufacturers. At this point we only need a bit more donated towards the Neptune Apex that will help us, and his support staff keep tabs on the tank, the Eshopps Eclipse L overflow box, and gift cert donations he can use for fish and frozen foods. We have some carbon donated by Fritz but more carbon can always be used.

Saturday August 20th 10AM - 6PM

Hobbyists are free to bring coral frags to sell and trade. You can bring your own tables/chairs, cover, tanks, and/or coolers to work out of. We will not be able to provide power for anyone beyond the 4 registered spots and we cannot allow generators. You can use battery back-ups, Radion/Coral Box power sources or any other silent means to provide power to your frag tank. No registration needed. No entry fees. This is a free event designed to bring the reefing community of the Pacific Northwest together.

Barrier Reef will provide refreshments and we will also be running some amazing specials at the shop.

Setup opens at 8AM. Please watch the weather report closely. If its hot, bring fans and ice packs. If rain is in the forecast bring cover. The event is happening rain or shine!

-Silent Auction-

We will be auctioning off a small head of our new Barrier Reef Party Stripper Blastomussa Wellsi. This coral has been grown in captivity for around 4 years under BRA Custom Tuned Evergrow LEDs. This will be a sealed auction. A photo of the mother colony can be seen below.

If you want first pick of all the great corals and fish + no crowds or waiting, set up an appointment for Friday April 29th. We will be closed to the public this day, and we will schedule six customers each hour, that will be helped by the five employees working that day. Yes you can bring family members. Appointments start at 10AM and are on the hour every hour. We will break for lunch between 1PM and 2PM. The last appointments start at 6PM. All the sale specials are good this day! Our specials will be posted soon.

If you are interested in scheduling one of these slots please PM me, or email cy@barrierreefaquariums.com, with up to three time slots, in order of preference, that would best fit your schedule on Friday April 29th. I need your first and last name and a phone number. The scheduling of these time slots will be done on a first-come first-serve basis. If ANY slot works for you please indicate this in your PM. Please don't commit to a time slot if you are not sure you can make the appointment.

Remember, no appointment needed to come take advantage of the sale Tuesday May 3rd - Sunday May 8th and we will be re-stocking the tanks with new fish, corals, and inverts almost every day!
