  1. Re: Xenia not acclimating to new tank I just got some pulsing xenia also And it took 2-3 weeks to finally come back and pulse. It even looked like it was melting for a few days. I say wait it out! By the way I dose with One
  2. This is my Lionfish, I just thought it was a cool picture!
  3. Darn, I would have taken advantage of that if you were a little more South!
  4. yea, that's my tank are they rare?
  5. Sad about the Acro :( I will move them up right now I hope the diatom goes away because today i feel like it got MUCH darker!! so gross looking!!
  6. since I have replaced the CC with sand, and the cf with t5ho we have had a green algae bloom on the glass, and a brown coating on the sand (diatoms?) is this any cause for concern? Also, I saw one of our small hermit crabs on the acro (you can see it in the top left of the pic) and after that, 1/2 of the brown color is gone!!! Is this normal?! DOH!
  7. It is $225 new but I got it at LS for $110
  8. I don't see why not? You'd for sure have pristine water!!
  9. It does an AMAZING job!!! The skimmate is usually so dark, that you can't see any light through it, gross!!
  10. Thank you! What is the non scientific name?
  11. I love my T-5's and personally I have the Aquaticlife 4 bulb 36" fixture!
  12. I bought it off of the Eugene Craigslist for $200! (YEA, 200!) it included the tank, stand, cc, 90 lbs lr, sailfin tang, arc eye hawkfish, soft corals, red sea prizm skimmer, and a coralife PC light!! It had been set up at his house for 4 years and I have had it for about 5 months. the sailfin is probably about 3-4 inches haha about "creating more swimming space" too funny!
  13. I picked it up at Liquid last week. No noise what-so-ever! there aren't any micro-bubbles when it has the sock over the return, but with it off, there are.
  14. I got a CPR Aquafuge2 HOB Refugium/Skimmer. I love it!! The Skimmer actually does a really great job (WAYY better than my Red sea prizm deluxe!!) nice dark skimmate

    Pulsing Xenia

So I heard PX are supposed to be super easy to take care of (scratch) I dose with "One", zooplankton for hard corals, and I also have to use a PH buffer (PH at 8) I cannnot keep these things alive!!!! Are there any ideas, tips, or tricks anyone can give me???!!!
  18. OH!!! On an exciting side note; we picked up a nice CPR HOB AQUAFUGE 2 refugium/protein skimmer today, and a acupora (sp?), frogspawn and another (i forgot the name of it) frag, the acupora had some pulsing xenia and star polyps on it too, as well as another cleaner shrimp and some more cuc (clap)
  19. Makes sense! Thank you. We did about 40% new water and are now in the waiting process of having it clear so we can add our corals and our fish back. for now we added the corals/anemones and fish together and put in a heater and a small size 1 or 2 koralia for some flow. hopefully it clears up soon..
  20. I do have a mixed reef. Our understanding is that if we replace so much of the bioligical nutrients that are in the cc and replace the water, then will the tank undergo a mini-cycle? I put 1 tote of corals/anemones, and 1 tote of fish, and 1 of LR and an extra of water.. I am concerned as i cannot locate my watchmen goby but was able to find the pistol shrimp that has the symbiotic relationship with the goby... i'm really hoping he was tucked up inside some lr. I will leave the coralline on the back of the tank, but i will be scraping the sides off, I want atleast a 3 sided view of my little reef

  22. So I am about to tear down my tank so I can remove some Coraline from the sides of the tank and get that nasty CC out of there and replace it with some beautiful sand. Any advice on anything that has to do with temporarily tearing down a tank? I will be lowering the water level to about 2 inches above the cc (and will store the water in a rubbermaid) then scooping the cc out. LR will be in one tote, corals/softies in another, and fish in another 1 or 2.. am I crazy? yes! lol (nutty)
