  1. "How does the frag swap thing work? I've got a rock with two heads of orange ricordia up for trade, but it seemed like I missed the bus at Frank's meeting regarding setting up deals beforehand. These pics are under my very ugly 6500k led at work. These are spectacular in my main display under radiums"

I dont know how exactly it works either. But I would trade you a green pocillapora(sp?) frag for them.

  2. Never 2x4 - takes up too much space and too heavy. Sticks of wood on end are much stronger than you might imagine. I think a single 2x4 has a breaking point of like 6 or 800 lbs.

If I can get my hands on some square tube then I will weld up a stand, and if I could afford aluminum...but I love crafting wood. 1"x2" or 1"x3" hemlock frame and maybe match the lizard tank, but probably not - each piece of furniture is sort of its own entity.

I have access to tubing for cheap steel and aluminum. Do you have a tig setup?? I have a spool gun does ok for aluminum but poor on stainless. I want to do a polished aluiminum stand for my 30 cube and a polished stainless stand for my 300. Just gotta convince the girl to let me drop 1500 on a tig welder. I also may have enough 1' 1/2'' squarue tubing left over from a job I might be willing to let go.

  3. I dont know if my evite went through. But I will be attending. I will bring some soda and some chips and dip. I could also bring you a frag of green pocilliapora(sp?) if interested. I will also be available to answer any questions about the steel stands. And also take orders(yes that was a shamless plug). Cant wait to see the setups all put together.

  4. Good looking welds on that stand.

Thank you... I hear you do a little welding too so that is a nice compliment. All My welds are un touched with a grinder. Except the outside corners. Those are not structural anyway. They are just to seal it up. Glad you like it Frank Glad to be part of your build. Cant wait to see it all done.

  5. Just wait he'll start doing a little construction in there mine hollowed out a rock in my sump

When I had the mantis you now have I would hear him smashing away and go look at him to see him in his hole smashing out stones to make it bigger. Then he would use the stones to barracade himself in side so he could molt.
