  1. Boxfish are extremly passive fish due to the fact that they are poisonous to most fish. When they are stressed and/or threatend they secreat a noxtious mucus. They should only be housed in a tank with passive/peacefull fish. He is definatley to chill to be in there with the trigger and tangs.

  2. Sorry for your loss. I concur with ck, it is important to wait for 3 months or more. The reason is your bio filter hasnt been established so it canot proccess the amount of waist from the fish. Espesialy the amount of waist that come out of Tangs. There are also many forms of bacteria that help keep the fish healthy and disese free. These are all things we cant really test for with our kits. Wait for at least 3 months, then add your clean up crew first. Snails/crabs maybe a serpent star, then a small hardy fish like a few chromis or talbot damsels.

  3. Thanks for the reply,

One thing of note. Here is an abbreviated timeline of my cycling

December 11 - purchase and setup.

Jan 2 - Everything died for the first time

5 weeks of nothing but corals (corals looking great - even now)

February 5 - New group of fish added

Feb 21 - Tang/Blenny died but I thought my giant hermit crab hunted them down due to strong circumstantial evidence

Today - Blue spotter died for no apparent reason (after hermit removed)

The only confusion I have about your recommendation is that I cycled for almost 2 months before I added the last group of fish. Also, my corals (zoanthids and several other types) are doing GREAT. There is visible new growth on every non-fish item in the tank. Are you saying that I need to let the tank be absent of fish completely in order for a new cycle to begin?

First off, dont give up my friend! :) I know it can be very difficult. I think whats going one here is an illness. You probobly have some parisites or fungus killing your fish. Many you cant even see and have no warning signs. All fish need to be removed and treated in a quarintine tank for a few months. Without any fish to host the bad stuff will die. But this will only happen when there are 0 fish in the tank. Im sure thats what it is if your corals are fine.

  4. All of this boobie talk makes me want a frag now!!DOH! Does it still go for over 200 a frag? We need to start a protection program because my (wife) is going to kill me!(laugh). Actually it's not funny' date=' she will probably try(help). Good thing I'm twice her size. (naner)[/quote']

Well John, maybe I could allow her to barrow my wife. She's tiny but also a red head! Im sure the two of them could put a serious hurt to your man bits! :)

  5. HI laws says you can catch fish (i.e. fish' date=' eels, hermits, etc) for personal use, but not for resale. Given the low number, I felt comfortable. I was actually challenged by TSA, but given I read the Fish and Wild Life laws there, they let me go. But had to check my stuff in due to the fluid regulation. But you cannot take live rocks, algae that are holdfast, and corals. :) So I brought home eels. :)[/quote']

Definatley dont want to take any of the lava rock home! BAD medicine my friend! All the volcanic rock stays with the island! :)
