  1. I thought I would give a shout out to Moe at Dolphin Pumps.

I have an old Amp Master I got used that has a cracked impeller. I gave them a call to see about getting a new impeller and a seal only to find out that the impeller has been discontinued. Even after I let him know that I had a limited budget, he offered many options and asked lots of questions to make sure what he sold me would not just do the job, but work for years and grow with my system. I ended up getting the Diamond Amp Master 4750-3 for a heck of a good deal. (I didn't go over my budget)(rock2)

Moe sounded interested in our club, and we chatted a little about the smaller reef communities, and how helpfull they are to the hobbie. He sent me an email after we got off the phone that I will copy here. I told him I would put our new vendor relations officer in touch with him.

I will try and cover the install of this pump in the near future.

    Thanks again Moe

    Gabe,

Our company is committed to all customers in the aquarium industry, because we have been at the customers end of the stick. We have been in business since 1978 simply because we can relate to not getting what you paid for. We are the only pump company that will order parts for our competitions pumps, and fix them at cost. We are the only company that will loan a pump to our competitions customer, because they will not. We are a large company with an even larger since of what’s right. We have always been here to prove ourselves, and continue to do so for all customers. We are sending your pump out today via UPS#xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. I have also attached my cell number for any afterhours questions you may have regarding your pump.

Please do not hesitate to call.

  2. I wouldn't stress the PH number too much. Alk yes, ph not so much. I have a similar size system with a kalk reactor on my topoff. I dose 5-10 drops each morning of Kent Alk buffer to keep dkh above 8, this also helps the ph. Without dosing the Kent, my dkh would hang at 6-7 and my ph would swing from 7.6-8.2 daily.

  3. Does anyone know of a quality probe with the bnc connector that will work with our controllers. I wouldn't mind spending $100+ if I can get years of service out of it. Seems pointless to spend $40 every 8 months.

  4. How long should a ph probe last? My pinpoint ph probe that is just a year old will not maintain calibration anymore. I thought that pinpoint was a quality brand, is there a better probe to use. I am using it withe an RKE.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. I have an SWC 160 cone skimmer for sale. I got it buying a system a little while ago and never got around to using it, just been keeping it as a spare. I would like to get $150 for it. I will be at the meeting on Saturday, or I can ship if you cover the cost. Sorry I don't have a pic.

    Thanks Gabe

Sorry about the title. I guess I can't edit the title. It is a 160.

  6. Looking forward to being there myself. Can't wait to see the new system, and one of the few chances to meet other members.

Thanks for making it family friendly Douglas, my kids had fun last time, and I'm sure they will again.

  7. Hey Douglas, looking great. The pics realy help us see the good ideas that are all over this build.

I do have a concern... The strut straps that are directly over the sump area will likely rust. The metal is plated, but they usualy still rust at the contact points. (mainly at the tightening hardware) I know those straps are available in stainless, shouldn't be too hard to find.

    Keep the pics comming
