  4. also interested in the return pumps, please email if they are still available. PM sent
  5. hopefully within the next month, i'm in no rush as i have so much other stuff to buy for it. I'm sorry your having to sell that tank, but that's awesome about baby #2 congratulations. Hopefully things will work out well and you can restart one soon.
  6. lol, ter is that the tank you had in your living room when i picked up the 36" lighting system? It was a beautiful tank, i would totaly buy it if joel wasn't already making me one.
  7. Wow, that's a sweet looking tank. Looking forward to seeing pics of it stocked. The dog looks jealous though, I think he wants to join you in there.
  8. Whats the dimensions? What are the dimensions of the sump? any pictures? what brand/model is the UV sterilizer?
  9. so its a simple question but i have to ask anyway. why do i see so many pictures of people raising their skimmer above the sump bottom? what is the benefit? is it simply to put the pump under the skimmer to save on footprint area?
  10. good point ccr. i'm just getting back into the hobby and had forgotten that the Ca+ pump works from either a small powerhead or a bleeder line from another pump. I think i am going to set it up with a very small powerhead to give a very constant pressure. In this way it won't take water directly from the tank. Or maybe the bleeder valve. I dunno yet we will see.
  11. aquarium is 90+ gallons 36x24x25 with two external pumps circulating around 1500 gph total. area for outflow chamber access on each side is 4x8
  12. ah. good questions. The fuge and QT are "floating" but not really. They are solidly attached and are simply above the sump base so there is a 5 gallon outflow chamber. The QT is actually seperated from the sump, no water exchanges between them here is an updated picture to show this. The QT has a cover on it and is made flush with the top of the tank. This way no splash goes in nor out of this area but the temp will always be the same as the whole system because of its location.
  13. alrighty i just finished what i think will be my sump for the new tank i would love to get opinions on what could be improved. included are top, left, right, front and a labeled view of the sump. The Refugium and QT are supposed to have slanted bottoms so that any air bubble will not get stuck under there. Water will flow into the Skimmer chamber then split in two directions. Skimmer will pump water into the refugium (which will have a bulkhead for outflow) and extra water from tank overflows will go through the baffles into the Ca+ chamber. From there it will flow out a bulkhead below the "floating" refugium and QT into the outflow chamber where it will be pumped back into the DT. I wanted a larger outflow chamber so i don't have to worry about evaporation if i have to take off for a few days. But i need the QT and fuge below the DT (or i won't be able to have them) so i finally realized that with the footprint limitations i had to go vertical. Thanks for any input you guys can give me.
  14. You gotta think tho, it has to be tough enough so that if a really drunk angry person who just lost 98,000(casino owner maybe) picked up a chair/table/small child and threw it at this thing it wouldn't break.
  15. hmmmm. powder coating. i could definitely see doing that. Do you know people around here that do that?
  16. Alrighty. Tank ordered, stand on its way, now time to figure out what to paint it. Its a metal stand and im a little concerned about rust. Any ideas for a paint brand or experience painting metal frames for aquariums?
  17. yeah, just trying to cut down on noise coming from the sump as i live in a small apartment and want my girlfriend to be able to sleep well. guess i shouldn't tell her how much these things cost
  18. I'm just getting back into this hobby after a 3 year denial of how much i truly love it. Usually i use styrofoam insulation between my aquariums and the plywood surface but am looking for something else like a rubber mat maybe. Any experiences with this? or stores to check them out?
  19. oooh rick prolly has picked it up by now but im interested as well if he no longer wants it.
  20. I'm going to be putting thin rubber pads under the D.T. and sump, noise wise i am looking to reduce whatever noise will come from pumps/PS/water movement.
  21. I have put several types of soundproofing in aquarium stands and am wondering what all of your experiences are with different products. If you could list the types you have used and how well they worked that would be fantastical.
