  1. As I understand it, the VHO actinic bulbs really don't do much for growth and having them on or off doesn't really impact your corals significantly. The main source of usable light is from either you MH or T5 bulbs. I know a lot of people that don't bother either changing their VHO Actinic bulbs as recommended or don't turn them on unless they want to show off their tanks

  2. I have about 60 lb of premo LR that is well encrusted with Coraline. Asking $3.75 a pound for the rock. Most are large to medium size with maybe 5 or 10% being small pieces. For anybody that wants to buy it all, I can give a 15% discount off the total price. Come get it while you can since this stuff would cost $5 or $6 a pound if not more at a store. Have pieces that would fit in large or Nano size tanks. Fully cycled and you can drop it directly into your tank without an ammonia spike!

Also have a frag of green with blue tip humulis

    Chocolate Chip brittle starfish $10

    False Perc Clown $5

  3. I'm sorry if I'm not calling everybody or wasn't able to answer all PMs individually. Just had too many to comb through. If you ended up getting something, please send a PM with what time is good for you to pick up. My time table has been expanded a little to include next week as well (M-F) if you need to pick up next week but preferable this week so I can sell off my lights to the gentleman that is interested in it.

  4. So I think I've written down how everything stands currently. I didn't put who was up second since I'm hoping that everybody that wanted this stuff comes and gets it otherwise I'll have to search through my PMs and see who is on the list next or just repost my remaining stuff later. As you can see, I decided on keeping a few things in hopes that my self imposed absence will be only a year or two in which case I'll probably use the things I'm keeping. I hope everybody that wanted to buy them understands and doesn't think badly of me. Please contact me with a time you can come pick up your stuff and please remember to bring a container since I seem to have ran out of bags. My best times to meet is after 6 on weekdays and prearranged times for weekends but will be in the evening more than likely.

  5. Sorry guys about not getting an updated list out yet detailing who has what. I've been real busy at work for fiscal year end and dealing with the repercussions of the accident. I'm going to try to set aside some time this evening to put up an updated list. Thank you for your patience.

  6. Wei dang that sucks!! At least you are all right. Hate to see you getting out of the hobby but stay in touch man!!!

Hit me up when you get back into the hobby, i'll have some frags to help get you jump started

Thanks Miles! I appreciate the offer! I've met some great people here on the board that were so helpful when I first started. I just hope in a year(my goal) or so after I've paid off some outstanding bills I've had hanging over my head and things are in a less tight of a situation that I can start up the hobby again. That's part of the reason why I'm keeping the tank, skimmer, sand, and pumps. Figure that the majority of that stuff can be reused and has no expiration date as opposed to LR, test kits, etc.

  7. Since I'm still new at selling stuff, it's going to take me till the end of today at least to build a list and see who has what. Please be patient with me as I sort through the accident stuff, work, and making sure everybody gets what they want and in what order. I will try to contact everybody if possible and set up a time when I get things organized.

    Thank you for your patience.

  8. So I regretfully and with great reluctance need to part with the hobby to free up some cash and cut down on some monthly expenses. I got into a car accident yesterday and the car is totaled! Depending on who the insurance company finds at fault, I don't know if I'll get any cash from insurance company to help offset the purchase of another car since our family needs two cars. I'm hoping some day to restart the hobby but for at least another year or two I won't have the funds to keep my set I can start the hobby again or at least have a freshwater tank(just won't be the same though).

I have for sale the following items. I'm hoping to get these prices, but if I'm out of line let me know and let's see if we can work something out, but please no low balling please since I really need to cash to pay for the another car and pay off some other outstanding bills that have been handing over my head but I've been putting off. I would really like to have everything sold by Friday of next week if possible.

    Purple Tang(Small to medium in size I would say~3 or 4") $80

Yellow Tang(about same size as above) $20 epic1

6-line wrasse(about ~2"never had any problems with him at all. Doesn't bother any of my other fish) $15 kendaroo

Hippo Tang(Medium ~4" the perfect size in my opinion) $30 epic1

    False Perc Clown(~1.5") $7

Reef lobster(Really cute with some pink and purple on it's shell perfectly reef safe and is ~3") $13 epic1

Clean up crew snails(probably ~50 Asterina snail and various other snails and conchs that I got from Garrett) $20 alterego

Chocolate brittle star. Great as part of your clean up crew and perfectly reef safe. I know some people put it in their sump to help clean up some detritus off the bottom. Good size. Asking $15

Yellow with green shade deep water acro(from Westside. About the size of the acros he is selling right now.) $25

Green with blue tip humulis- Gone this from cherry corals as a 1.5"-2" frag. The piece is a dark green right now but will have blue tips soon judging from the picture of the mother colony. Asking $13

Sun Coral- Nice sized colony. About the size of 1/3 of a baseball. Asking $25

~200lb of LR. I would say 3/4 of the rock is premo stuff and has coraline well established on it. Has mushrooms, coraline, tubeworms, etc and well established on the rock. The other 1/4 is of course base rock but still from an established tank since I bought some of it from a previous tear down. Aptasia free guaranteed!! Two of the rocks have a brown with pink nipple center colony and the other rock has what appears to be Dragon Eye Zoas or Nuclear green. The majority of the pieces range from large to medium size. There is a large flat L piece and a flat and wide piece, some cone shaped, and some regular round/squarish pieces. I'm asking for $2.50 for the base rock and $3.50 for the premo stuff or 15% off the entire price of the rocks if you buy all of it. diverdown

As for equipment, I will be selling the following:

72" PFO light setup 3-400MH and 2-VHO Actinic. Comes with working balasts and has 3 1 month old XM 20k bulbs. This is no lie and Tim at Westside can vouch for the age of the bulbs since I bought them from him. The bulbs themselves cost $300. I'm asking $500 for the setup. I believe these are magnetic balasts and are not HQI. mikep503

I know I'll have some more stuff to put up later but right now I'm just too depressed thinking about selling my setup(sad)(sad) and can't think of everything right now. Like I said, I'm open to offers but please no low ballers. If you want pictures, I can provide some but might take me a little time but I'll try to send them soon.

  9. I don't see them on his site? Is it something special that isn't being offered to the general public yet?

No its not top secret-4 new chalices-(drooler)

    pink boobies

    blue boobies

    highlighter

    raindow lava

and now its time to stick a fork in me-I'm done-(nutty)

I think I'll be selling a few items-(of course)-jump on board again if you want

  10. What are you getting Brad? Or is it ultra top secret kill you if you know thing? LOL(laugh)

So I am placing my last order ever for my reef tank (ya right huh) with Jody from TEC of Oregon.

I know he offers free shipping over 50.00 dollars but if you want to piggyback on my order you don't need to worry about meeting that 50.00 requirement.

If you want in the corals will be shipped to my house next Friday, and with Sunday being Easter I would prefer all things picked up by Saturday night but can discuss that if anyone even jumps in.

When ordering with Jody, just choose "local pickup" when going through check out and tell Jody you want the item(s) shipped with Brads order going out on the April 1st-and no this is not an April Fools joke-

    There is the offer.......

  11. NICE! I'd love to have one in my 29g but have not wanted to risk it for fear of starving the little guy. This sounds like a great solution. A target dragonet would be a great addition.

I'm surprised you would be worried Brian. I thought with that refugium of yours with all that macro that your tank would be swarming with pods!!! Or are you more worried about his tankmates?

  12. I knew as soon as Matt Wittenrich bread them successfully a couple of years ago that it was only a matter of time. Personally I would probably wait a short time before trying to acquire these as I am sure ORA is going to charge a premium for them initially. I would think that as time progresses that these mandarins will typically cost a little more than wild caught fish but the peace of mind knowing that they are weaned to frozen foods will make it worth it.

Actually talking to Garrett he said he has had about a ~85% success rate in weaning mandarins he has ordered onto frozen food.

  13. I finally bought my first Scolly! (clap)This was the one I dreamed I bid 300 dollars on it on Ebay :D. I didn't spend that much( about 1/3 of that) and I love it!(drooler). Seriously love it! Would take it out for dinner and a movie but it only likes raw food!:D

Forgive the picture quality. I only have a point and shoot little canon.

Man, you need better dream material! LOL J/K

Ahhhhhhhhh, the sign of true reefing addict. Isn't dreaming about reefing one of the first signs of an addiction? I think the next step is supposed to be admitting it to yourself in front of a mirror. (laugh)I would say it's time for an intervention but I suspect nobody here could set up one since I'm sure everybody here already has the same problem (laugh)
