  1. Finished acquiring all the parts for my new toys to go in the 240g. Going to wire up the timer for them tonight. But I need a way to attach them to the back corners of the tank but dont want it permanent. I'll probably just try zip ties for now to make sure it works. Ideas? Dont really like suction cups. Is there a cheap strong magnet that will hold through a total of 3/4" worth of acrylic and be able to be in the tank? Or where should I look for cheap strong magnets and I can try to encase in resin?

  2. I just got my filter socks from my BRS order and realized I ordered the wrong size for my tank. They are the Mesh ones. 4"x14". 200 micron. I might be able to deliver to the Portland area this WED if someone wants them. $10 for two.

  3. My RBTAs seem to stay in one spot once settled. They don't move unless they split or the water flow in the tank changes. As long as you don't add or move powerheads around they should stay put once settled if all your tank parameters are good for them.

  4. I have ran all the lighting options you are debating about. I started with PCs and switched to T5s and then MHs and then built my own CREE LED fixture. The LEDs are crisp and clear and you can adjust it to your own color, but now I run only MHs. Its what gave me the best overall color and growth. And I only use cheap 250w MHs. I just dont think LEDS will be as good as MH until they make a decent UV led to add to them. I know I could get better results using a better bulb but its hard to beat what Im running for the price. I used to run 2x250w MHs over my 72" bowfront and never had any heat issues. I also now run 1 250w MH over my 20" cube and 4x250w mh over my 240 and dont have any heat issues.

  5. 240 gallon with 60gal and 55 gallon sumps. I'm at about 35x turnover in my display. But still not quite enough in my opinion. But I am about to add a wave to the tank that should hopefully help. My last tank had close to 60x turnover and I thought it was perfect.

  6. I love doing small electronic projects, so I bought a MK111 (555 based adjustable timer) kit for a project but I don't feel my hands are steady enough anymore to do it after looking at the board. Does someone want to solder it together for me? Its the standard kit but with different pots so I can mount them through a project box. And maybe solder leads onto a few barrel plugs. But I can probably still do those. I can trade frags (bright orange cap, speckled orange zoas, mushrooms, etc) or a few bucks?

    Kit looks like this

Sorry if posted in wrong area. Feel free to move it. I put it here because I want to trade corals for it and the project is going onto my tank when finished.

  7. I'm really glad people here are starting to us these. I'm sad It wouldn't work with my set up. As for programing, if you're around computers alot I dont think it would be too hard. I remember playing around with it a little bit the one day I played with it. If I remember right, they also have a forum where people post the codes they are using so you can just use others codes or parts of them. Like having MH lights with a cool down period before re-firing if they get turned off.
