  1. Welcome to the group. Nice looking tank. I like your aquascaping the way you have it angled and the cave. very nice. Are you undecided on bare botton versus sand bed, or is that the result of flow? (clap)
  2. I do like that Favites. Sweet colors
  3. +! on the full tank shot. Great pics and beautiful corals. Love that monti cap
  4. Okay, thanks Chewie. Now I know what to call them. As for the colors CA2OR, anything really that would be considered out of the norm. I've got a variety of colors now, but would like some more unique morphs. Not high end stuff necessarily, just less common than the standards that we see everywhere. In other words, I'm easy.
  5. That's funny, I thought you were trading anthias (as in fish). Whatever the stuff is, it grows pretty quickly. I could probably bust a 2-3" chunk of the rock for trade. What color zoos/palys do you have? Thanks, Mark
  6. The Xenia looking stuff I have been referring to as clove polyps. It's been growing pretty robustly, although it's on a pretty solid part of my rock. I'd surely trade some for an anthias. What type? Let me get home and see if there's a rock portion removable. mark
  7. Thanks Clay. I appreciate it. I'm getting a lot of growth which is shading a number of corals towards the bottom of the tank so I need to frag out a bunch. If anybody's interested, I'm not looking for big trades, I'll take just about anything. Thanks, Mark
  8. Hey all. I posted this in general discussion as well. I'm working on a water change this morning and see that I'm needing to frag some over-abundant colt coral as well as some green with pink tip frogspawn. I've got frags of a variety of sizes and wondered if anybody is interested in a trade for something that I don't have in my tank. Ricordia, zoanthids, LPS, etc. The frogspawn (behind the anthias) has 16-20 heads which I can easily frag from, and the colt (i think) is to the left of the frogspawn and there are several frags in the substrate. Let me know what you have. Thanks, Mark
  9. By the way, I'm in Lake Oswego about 7 minutes form I-5, exit 290. Mark

  11. Maybe some sort of Pavona? That would be my guess based on the growth pattern.
  12. Yes Mike, I've realized over the last 3 years that corner aquariums have their own particular set of problems, particularly flow. When I originally set it up, I thought that my 3000 GPH closed loop and my 950 gph return through a 1" Sea Swirl would do the job nicely. My aquascaping caused problems though as it was stacked against the back walls. I re-scaped a little over 18 months ago and it initially helped with the flow. As the corals grew in however, I needed to add more flow so I bought a used Vortech, which is directed in back of the rockwork on the left side. The Vortech does a great job of eliminating the corner "dead spot". I use a Tunze on the right side, which doesn't do as good a job. When funds allow, I'll be replacing the Tunze with another Vortech. Mark
  13. The dimensions of the tank from the back corner are 48" along each side and just about 60" across the front. The tank is just short of 24" deep. Here's a picture from about 6 months ago of the tank with the canopy and stand open: For some reason, I don't have a picture of the stand and canopy closed. It's nice light oak however, custom made for me by my UPS man in exchange for an older hot tub.
  14. Thanks Impur. Who doesn't love Blastos?
  15. Thanks Vanz. I'm glad you like it. I've grown very fond of it as well. Although the lady of the house thinks that she has to compete with it for attention.
  16. Blastos are my forever favorites. I like this pink and blue lobo too
  17. Hey all, I haven't posted pics of my big reef in quite a few months, so here's a few shots I took earlier this month. My chiller broke down about a month ago, so my temperature fluctuates now between 79 and 83 degrees. Since then I've seen some pretty good growth. I'm considering not getting a replacement, but next weeks 100 degree weather has me concerned a little. Enjoy the pics. Mark
  18. I'll certainly agree with all of the above: Nice house Nice tank Nice selection of corals...and then some. It was nice to meet you and members of the group. Thanks for welcoming a newbie to the group. Mark
  19. When confronted with decisions such as this, I tend to avoid conflict and just buy both! Could be part of the reason why I'm broke all the time...(laugh)
  20. Here are pics of my three wrasses. I'd never owned a wrasse but when I lost nearly all my fish back in November, I decided to try fish I hadn't had before. I never knew what I was missing. These guys are always busy , always moving, and really enjoyable to watch.
  21. Blastos are my current favs, but I'm having trouble deciding between these two:
  22. I think the hijack killed the thread. Time to disassemble the tank. LOL
  23. I really appreciate the comments...except perhaps the toad part?
