  1. When I had my tank before it was fully stocked and happy so I really never added much as far as corals and / or clams. Now that I am getting it back but with little life in it I am having to reconsider the inhabitants. I already have a fabulous huge blue maxima clam but was wondering if I can get more than one this time round?

Another consideration is the RBTA. After seeing them and some of the great pictures posted I was wondering what type of things I should be considering with them? I have read that if you get them placed in a good spot they don't move much. I am very fond of the relationship with clown and anemone!

    Thank you all again!

  2. It is in good flow now. I have a tsunami blue that mixes thing up a bit with the wave pumps. It has been "opening up" nicely since the tank has been "stabalized" if you will. I guess I will try cutting them of and see what happens.

  3. So after reading about the options and the fact that my lone peppermint after a month in the tank didn't seem to like aiptasia I decided to get Aiptasia X. On the way out the door Saturday to get some I see the Peppermint battling the biggest Aiptasia in my tank! So I decided not to get the medication. Sure enough by then end of the weekend he cleaned out EVERY single Aiptasia. He went nuts. So now I can only hope that the stories of them eating coral aren't true for him!!! He would clean me out before I knew what happened!

  4. ha! there are bad things in the sewer...my mom had a big ol' rat come up the sewer and into the toilet - no joke! Imagine sitting down at 2:00 am half asleep and something is splashing in the toilet. (scary)

When I was 4 or 5 we had a starling bird get stuck in the sewer ventilation and ended up coming up in the toilet. I wen to open the lid and that poor little black bird started splashing around. I abuot died and my mom laughed and laughed..... (laugh)

  5. I know there are two types of reef dosing. One that you feed the fish and the other that you add to the water. Don't know much about either. As far as adding to the water I've seen it but it worried me cause Vit. C is an acid and it can drop the dkh and ph if you are not careful. It was said to slow algae growth, parasite and bacteria infections but I had so few of those vs. the chance of the dkh and ph drops I didn't use it.

  6. Skimmer is just fine. You can do a mesh mod on it an get finer bubbles. The return pump looks to be either a pcx 30/ or 40. If it gets noisy you can have it rebuilt by PCI. They will put new bearings in it. for a fee of course. I cannot comment on the bio balls as I have never used them. It looks like a good area for live rock and/or macro. Powerhead an easy clean. soak in vinigar for half an hour then attack with tooth brush. I have a little concern with the lid to the skimmer being so close to the power strip if it where to go krazy you may be in electrical hell. SOOOOO you have installed GFI's correct!!!!!

The power strip isn't actuall plugged in. While it was not in my control they did that and I re-did it after I got it back... but they put it on that wall with gorilla glue or something. So it isn't actually plugged into power. I used it to plug in the cords that don't need power and I need to remove from the system. It has some broken moon lights that are screwed in and stapled in but I've been to lazy to try and remove that stuff so instead of dead cords hanging I plugged them into a dead circuit.

  7. I thought about just cutting below where the algae seems to keep growing? Would that be a bad thing? as far as flow I don't think I can go any higher. I have been worried about it being to high since I got the tank back from my ex. . . something else I asked advise about on another thread :)

  8. More of my fix up questions...

So my Gorgonia has an algae most likely hair algae growing off the tips. The person who had the tank "liked it" cause it flowed around like "palm trees" and didn't realize it was killing off the coral. Any ideas how to fix this. It's been a six week battle. Water isn't bad. I pull of whay grows trying not to hurt the coral itself. Not sure if i should cut off the affected parts or not. It is no longer spreading down the fingers though.

    Thank you again!

  9. Finally some pictures.... So here is the setup I'm working with but I'm wondering if I should change it out before I start stocking again? I'm so conflicted on the bioballs but yet no clue how (if I were to) convert them? Maybe I'm making this to hard?(scratch)

Also am I running enough flow? I'd love help identifying my tank again (whistle)
