  1. would it be better for me to lower my photo peroid now ...before it takes over ?? I am scheduling a WC on Wednesday ....20% and just redirected the Koralina's more direct to the problem area.....other then lowering the photo peroid .....its a waiting game I suppose.
  2. I did some reading and I think I'm going to try and UP the flow in that area...and start with a water change ....tank is almost 2 months old and haven't done a full WC yet....added 25 gallons with fuge a week ago ....but was told thats not offically a water change. My water is all within parameters but I think I would feel better with a WC ....I did have a peroid of about 2 weeks where my SG was really low....but fixed that problem over the last few days ....back at 1.024 Thanks again for the help Andy
  3. Will do and thanks .....hate it when ugly crap gets into my garden!!
  4. copy that ....so make no changes ? leave lights and feeding the same and slurp up any slimy stuff....for now nothing to slurp...it looks powdery........if I try to brush it off...then I assume it will spread ? I checked my PO4 and its about .02..all others are good ....Fuge is still developing and the Phosphate reactor been on a little over a week now ...
  5. Thanks Andy ....so leave it alone ? or should i get a specific cleaner for it ?
  6. You need an escort service off Craiglist !! that'll get him / her / It ... producing !!!
  7. This just started 2 days ago....it is starting to spread...noticed the same color on some macro algae in the fuge this morning ?? it seems to be light sensitive...and the yellow came first then the red ?? Any ideas ?? (scratch)...............(scary)
  8. Looking for a Hood or Canopy for a 125 gallon glass tank...72x18 Color not an issue ... Lights or no lights either will do.....I have the Halides.....but not the T-5's yet. Thanks !!
  9. Thanks, thast the 4th time around i believe !! lol Will be starting on a 125 gallon here soon ...have 100 lbs to scape !! I'll create a thread for the build here soon
  10. Thanks for the offer, I will be back in soon, going to let the water settle down and things adjust for a bit. Came home and the refractometer is reading correctly now....but I will be watching it.!!! Marine Depot said that is mst have been a bad / old batch of fluid ....and they stated the fluid is actually for a salinity moniter...I suppose thats there out for liability!! but SW is SW ...regardless moniter or meter !
  11. I found my problem with mine...the solution they sent me tested at 1.020...not 1.026 ( .35ppm ) like they said.....we tested it today at seahorse, I must have gotten a bad batch .....only cost me my first coral !! Frog spawn not gonna make it I don't think...when i put him in my Salinity was 1.018.....but the refractometer said it was 1.023 I recalibrated it and it seems to be fine now....when I called Marine Depot they said the solution should have been .35ppm but it is actually made for a salt water moniter and not the refractometer
  12. I didn't think it would be a problem as they are sponsors.....just wanted to make sure .... SEA HORSE ROCKS (rock2)(rock2)(rock2)(clap)!!!!!!!!!!! I had been struggling for the last 4 days trying to solve this myself...and Issiac asks a few questions and immediately solves it within minutes of being in the store !! Even offered to send me home with some better salt ( free ) to bring the levels up. I have delt with Sea Horse now for about 2-3 weeks ...and nothing but professional and knowledgeable people !! (icon)(icon)(icon)(icon)
  13. I bought the calibration fluid when i got it from Marine Depot, and set it to their fluid....I checked it again yest ....against what the LFS reading was ....meter said 1.024....LFS 1.016 His corals were perfect.....mine not. Even I can figure those odds out !! As I started adding salt......I could see the different in the entire tank...crabs...fish...even looks like he FS is bouncing back ....Poor guys been in the twlight zone for the last few weeks !!! I am calling Marine Depot today to talk to them about their calibration fluid .....nowhere on the bottle or shipping papers does it say what the fluid is set to...I had to find it on their website.....so i will talk to a person today and see what they say. +/- 1 maybe....not +/- 5 !
  14. Very Nice !! Love the name...original!! Welcome to PNWMAS !!
  15. GOOD NEWS and BAD NEWS !! I think we solved the problem .....Salinity levels .....and a defective Refracto Meter ....took my water in today and ( can i say where ?? w/o violating a forum rule ? ) and it tested at 1.016 !!!! So good news is I think I know WHY ....Bad news is that it happened !! Have slowly brought the Salinity back up to 1.020 and will leave it for a day, then slowly start bring it back up to 1.024 over next day or so. Of the 3 heads ...one is looking very skinny...and up to the larger one that I'm hoping will be the one to make it..... Thanks everyone for the support and offer of assistance....and on a side note...I also learned that SNAILS will stop working and sort of hibernate when salinitys drop...so now I have another warning sign ...and I thought it was because there was no algae to eat ...so was supplementing them with food!! Live and learn....hopefully the FS will recover!!
  16. Thanks for the offer Wob !! I have a RO/DI unit that is getting re-plumbed and should have it back today i hope, and am planning on the first water change using the water from it. As far as the FS goes, I'm gonna talk with the LFS today and have some more testing done on the water.... I have had a few replies from another reef forum that implied that as long as the color is there and no black spots or " melting " of the head.....it can still recover? and by moving it would set it back more, most likely causing its death. Is gonna sit and gather good karma from the wife and I !
  17. Day 7 and I think its finally giving up ....all 3 heads are looking pretty shabby...color looks the same as day 1 but they are shrinking ....skeleton showing on the larger head now ...no splitting and the stalk colors haven't changed :( Was hoping to add a few more corals on these days off...but now concerned about water quality.....on the good side, the feather duster and star polyps are looking great !
  18. Now that you mention it Wobble.....I got a frogspawn and a feather duster w/ some star polyps attached to it a week ago and the FS is dying ...hasn't opened yet and this morning is looking worse :( just kind of withering away. The feather duster and polyps are doing great ....so a mystery to me. I know my water tests very good, LFS tested tap water for Phosphates last week and it came back not even a trace....but never tested for heavy metals ? I know that when testing for my hot tub, it is high in alkalinity ?? but I thought high hardness was a good thing for corals? I live ontop of Larch mountain and my well is 760 feet deep so its down there a few feet! Headed to the LFS today and see what he thinks....I have no more options and hate seeing it just fade away. I thought it would have opened even if to eat, but hasn't happened :(
  19. Foxy is all upset...ops didn't do it right ?
  20. Nano....took mine!! I have almost the same photo !! Never seen this kind of fish action before...the Chromis kiss and tell action!! Nice photo !
  21. Good point! Hockinson area ...we gots TREES....well a few left !
  22. I tested the Nitrate a few hrs ago...Powder test...reads little blow .10...but no higher. All others levels are good ....only have test strips for GH and KH GH was 180+ ( high as the test kit color would say ) and KH appeared to be little more then 180 but not quite 240 if that means anything? I moved it this morning..first time in 5 days to about 3-4 inches higher and a little more flow ( which I would say is moderate...waving star polyups my gauge). No splits and there is still a color difference between flesh and skeleton...about 1/4 inch down is skeleton stalk. They came from the LFS and not sure what lights he had...was a long tank with lots of corals ( don't wanna throw names out ) but all the corals looked really good in his system and I trust him....I have seen LFS with alot worse !! Thanks for advise !
  23. Greeting all (rock2) Just got started in SW about 2 months ago...started my first tank in mid January after TONS of research....seems a never ending story! Have always had fish...FW and KOI pond in back yard, so not to new to aquatic life. I currently have a 55 and 20 gallon FW running. I started with a 90 gallon SW off Craigs list and have just got it to the point of " no surprises" I hope (nutty) it went to easy I think...fast / minimal cycle and little algae....(clap) I also bought a 125 gallon set up which I am re-vamping as we speak....I have about 90% of the equipment and will be starting setup soon.
