  1. Mine is for sale in the classifieds. 40B with 29 sump. Just needs light and return pump. I always kept mine running. QT for both fish and corals. I used a filter sock and kept the filtration pretty simple. Did the hypo a few times but that obviously doesn't work with corals or inverts in. I found it was much easier to just keep running like a second tank and stock the main from it.

  2. Need to clear out space.   Haven't used this setup in about 4 years.   40G breeder with 29G sump.   Includes stand, powerstrip, clip on lights, filter sock holder, and all plumbing.   Tank is drilled with two bulkheads - I used one as overflow and other as return.  Couple of pictures below.   Please text me if interested, I don't get on here much.   Asking $80 OBO.   Im located in Castle Rock, north of Kelso / Longview area.

    Thanks,

    Nate

  3. those bad boys look sahweet! You might want to switch your ratcheting hangers around so the ratcheting part is on the light end of things. That way when you go to raise them you arent putting twice as much weight on your ceiling.

Nice catch and thanks for the advice. I had them that way but I didn't have an easy way to keep the ropes out of the water. So I swapped them around to the way they are now. I'm not worried much about pulling on the ceiling, I have the anchors drilled into the floor joists and the entire light rack is less than 20 lbs.

  4. FTS with new lighting. I am really impressed with these Sol fixtures. I have read many reviews with people that claim they are not visually as bright as halides. In my case I think they are brighter. I'm starting them at only 30% intensity and quite a bit higher than the halides / T5s that they replaced. Light coverage is good with no visible spot lighting effect. (I had some spot lighting with the halides because they were so much closer to the water.)

I am pleased with the LED upgrade, too bad they don't grow SPS. ;)

  5. Thats a great job with the bracket for the LEDs.

How far out is the new build?

I'm hoping to make it a winter project. I need the wife to approve the final design before I can rip and tear in the wall. I'm still debating on tank size.

  6. I just upgraded my lighting and figured I should sell my old fixture. It is a Current Outer Orbit Pro model. 48" long. It has 2x250 MH plus 4 T5 and 18 LEDs for moonlights. The MH bulbs are Pheonix and approx 3-1/2 months running 6 hours a day. The T5 bulbs are less than 2 months old and run 10 hrs a day. Asking $225.

    More specs here:

I will be in Portland on Friday Oct 26 and could deliver.

  7. I was going to save my new AI Sol lights for my new build but I couldn't stand it any longer. I have been tripping over the box for weeks and weeks. I got some free time today and threw a hanging kit together and mounted them over the 150. I didn't spend much time on the hanging brackets since this is a temporary tank. I think they turned out ok for how little time and money I spent. They need a little tweaking once I figure out what spacing I want to keep. Here are some photos.

Used some aluminum channel for the brackets. I drilled some extra holes for future adjustments.

The other end I used some D-rings and drilled the holes larger so I could use the existing screws on the Sols.

Here are all four mounted together and ready to hang. The cross brace helps to hold them apart and doesn't really add any strength or rigidity. I used picture wire on the D-rings so I could just use two hangers.

And lastly over the tank. This picture was taken before I removed my old halide fixture. I had a tarp over the top of it to keep any debris from falling in the tank while I mounted the anchors in the ceiling.

  8. Ha! I think the regular ones were all my heart could handle for one day lol.. but he said that they were upgradable to pro :)

Just messing with you. I'm not sure that the Pro models offer enough of a performance gain to offset the cost increase. The new lenses would be nice for the height of your tank though. I would think the lenses are much cheaper than the full upgrade.
