  1. wow thats alot ryan. your definitely taking advantage of the group buy :)

Yes, but its what I need to get my new tank up and running! The shipping is going to kill me though with 75lb of rock. The group buy savings kind of make up for that.

Normally when I place a large orders with BRS I do a Google search for BRS Group Buys and find another forum running one to tag along on, but this time I figured I would bring the savings to our local club.

It was kind of fun organizing it, so I might set one up every 3 months or so..

  2. just curious but whats everyone getting?

Im still working on my order, but heres what I have so far...

75 lb BRS “Reef Saver” Dry Aquarium Eco Rock

1 4 Stage RO Replacement Filter Kit (no di)

1 75 GPD Dow Filmtec RO Membrane

1 75 GPD Flow Restrictor with Quick Fittings

    1 Single DI Canister

3 Replacement Two Part Calcium Pack for Recipe One

3 Replacement Two Part Alkalinity Pack for Recipe One (Soda Ash)

1 gallon Magnesium mixed for use with 2 Part

1 pound (453 Grams) Bulk GFO "Granular" Ferric Oxide

3 Pounds - 1 Gallon Premium ROX 0.8 Aquarium Carbon

1 Elos Aqua Test Kit - Carbonate Hardness (Alkalinity)

I'll probably be placing my order tomorrow morning if I can decide on my last few items.

  3. I don't see a downspout in the chamber. How does the water pass through the media?

Thats what I don't like about the BRS reactors...I have never seen one in person, so unless they have a different method of directing the flow through the media I don't see how it can be very efficient...

  4. The stand was very reasonably priced -- don't remember what I paid a couple years ago. Not sure if spectra is still building them' date=' but contact him for a quote if you're interested. I designed it with sketchup and he built it just how I wanted. [/quote']

Spectra is still building stands! He just finished mine a couple weeks ago. I too designed mine in scetchup, and he built it. Its an amazing stand! Very reasonable in price too!

  5. I never really figured it out, I always assumed roughly 350-400 gallons. I made it REALLY deep to help give the fish a chance against racoons and cats.

The last pond I made for them was too shallow and we lost a lot of fish to animals. No fish lost in this pond yet...

The koi were added at just a couple inches long. Now they're 14" to 16" long, and VERY fat!

Looks nice. What's the total volume there?

Looking forward to the time when the plants are all grown in and the pond liner, etc aren't too visible.

  6. Heres the pond I built for my parents. Its as maintenance free as it gets...feed the fish, and ad top off water. Thats it!

For filitration, I used a blue 50g barrel filled with filter material. Water is pumped to the bottom of the barrel, fills the barrel, goes through the filter material, then overflows to the top of the water fall. The filter setup uses biological filtation to break down waist. Its been running with out ANY maintenace for over 5 years.

It also helps to have lots of shade over the pond to cut down on algae growth.
