  1. First of all. Welcome to the site!

I might suggest that we set up a section for kids that are under a certain age or at a minimum list you child's age and have separate accounts with full access into your child's account and limit what sections and the amount of posts you will allow.

If you set up a tank thread with the understanding from the outset that this thread is going to be used by an adult and a child I am sure that most people will respond with understanding and kindness.

There is no way of knowing, without a sig line how old a person is. My response to a question is going to be very different between a 7 year old, an 11year old, a 17 year old and a 23 and 30 year old. There is just no way to guess a person's age.

If you have the opportunity to attend a meeting please be assured that we actually do love kids. My 6 year old daughter bid on a coral just because she thought it was some adult counting game. Emerald backed out of the bidding (which is VERY hard for her) in respect for my child!

On our local tank tours children of all ages are encouraged to attend!

  2. When I joined here it was to buy a few Corals and stuff for my tank never thought I would make 1' date='000 post(clap)(clap)(clap)[/quote']

Isn't it everything you've always wish for?

Now you are officially privy to our secret handshake and greeting! (laugh)

Ask Roger about the "secret handshake". It isn't all that pleasant......

  3.

As I understand from speaking to him this morning at OIAB there was no security deposit, nothing written up just verbal agreements. This may not make a difference to most but I have had plenty of people back out of buying a 20.00 dollar frag so I understand his place when you have someone standing there with 1750.00 dollars cash and wants to buy a tank that you had offered to sell to someone for 1,000.00 dollars but have nothing in writing or any deposit-I'm selling the tank and anyone in there right mind would have."

I think what you did was clean, Brad, but I have to respectfully disagree with the rest of the transaction.

There is a lot of difference between a $20 frag and a $1,000 to $1,700 sale. A $20 purchase is not going to be a major purchase to most people.

If I understand correctly a verbal agreement was made. It may be argued that it could have had an agreement that it would be held at that price for 48 hours unless a better offer came through. It could have also had a requirement that a deposit be placed within a certain amount of hours. All of these requirements was up to the seller to place on the sale. The seller had the choice of putting these restrictions on the purchase and chose not to. That he may not have been wise enough to do so is immaterial as is the fact that the tank was possibly under priced.

It was up to the seller to stand by the agreement. I have been offered substantially more for a large purchase that I made after a verbal agreement had concluded and I declined (and always will). My word is more important than money.

I still stand by my original comments that what was done by the seller was unethical.

  4. I have a table saw and garage we can use :D

I've got a fresh 10" acrylic blade if needed? If this is a corner tank we will need to do some bevel cuts if a square tank won't fit.

So the tour consists of Miles and Jon's house?

I think doing more than two houses gives short shrift to the tanks IMHO.

It is too bad Clay has to work. His tank has really come into it's own. It has been flourishing like nobody's business!

  5. Perfect! Are we all pitching in on pizza or buying separate?

Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using Tapatalk.

Seriously, have you seen the size of Jon? Little Keebler Elves like me don't stand a chance at getting a fair shake at a Pizza.(laugh)(laugh)(laugh)(laugh)(laugh)

  6. Corndog Johnny. Good name for for a band.

It is! I admit to plagiarizing on Corndog Johnny. This is what got me started! I was reading the local paper and said "Hmm. Wish I had a name like that!"

I sometimes find myself meeting educated, reserved people (go figure) and will introduce myself as "Buzzy" just to watch their expression drop and try to respectfully address me. Buzzy was also an art project of mine which consisted of found/created objects of a persona named Buzzy.

Gnome refers to my Alpha Manly Petite Stature (thanks Jon!).
