  1. Michael 7979:

I have dove with Michael at the OCA before, I believe he is a shift captain on Fridays. Great guy!

    Krux:

Most of the divers do not live in Newport. There are many people that drive from the Portland area, and I'm sure you could work out a carpool situation. There are divers from as far away as Tacoma.

    Jason:

I've been diving for 24 years now, and still love it. You should check into it more.

    Mike:

I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun doing it, hope you will come blow bubbles with us!

  2. Well, let me be the first to post in this forum(clap)

I have been a volunteer diver at the Aquarium for about a year and a half now, and have enjoyed it tremendously. A great bunch of people, and the best viz on the Oregon coast! If there are any advanced level divers out there that want to spend some time in the water, year round, check this out:

    It's a blast!

  3. I have been battling sawtooth caulerpa almost since I got my tank started. (flame)

Lately, it has been really taking over. Things you can do are:

    1. Feed less

    2. Reduce lighting period

    3. Install phosphate reactor in your tank (even though you're showing no phosphate, its because the macro is eating it up so fast.)

    4. If your not using a sump, with light and chaeto, you need to.

For me, the first two were not what I wanted to do, so I got a phospate reactor, which reduced my Phosphate from 1 ppm to 0 in about three days. Also, I am placing a new 250w MH over my sump, and am going to run it on a reverse photoperiod.

    Good Luck!

  4. Eric,

I'm fairly certain that is ich. Over a year ago, I had an outbreak in my tank, and that sure looks like it. After much research, I concluded that the best course of action was to quarantine the fish, under hyposalinity conditions, and leave the tank fishless for a minimum of 6 weeks (mine was fishless for 7 weeks). After I did this, all fish were cured of ich, and the tank was ich free as well. More than a year later, I've had to problems.

I know that it will be no fun to set up a QT, but it's the best course of action, IMHO.

  5. Well, I'm going to have to get a phosphate reactor, due to sawtooth caulerpa taking over my tank. In researching, I noticed how expensive the media is, I mean holy cow. it's only rust, for gawds sake. Anyway, anyone interested in getting together and buying in bulk?

I've inquired about a quantitiy of 100kg, and will see what they say.
