  1. Need some clarification on the rules. Is the one gallon volume to include the tubing volume as well? what about the volume of water in the pump, or any other equipment? If I make a one gallon tank, with some freeboard (not quite full), then I will have some water volume for tubing, etc.Why don't we make it one gallon of water, total. Or, maybe better yet, "stop being so anal"

  2. As many of you know, I drive all over creation every weekend. This includes driving through prime Indian fishing areas like The Dalles and Cascade Locks. I have been buying Salmon from them, as the fish come up river, for several years now. This time of year, is the best wild Salmon that you can get (Spring Chinook...Ok, the sockeye is pretty good too...).

Anyway I am going to get a couple this Friday, and thought I would offer to hook up some fellow reefers, if anyone is interested. A couple of weeks ago, I paid $5/pound, whole fish (guts in). Sometimes they will gut them, and charge $6/pound. Yes, this is the same fish that Market of Choice recently had for sale at $26.99/pound for fillets. You can figure about 60-70% of the fish's weight, guts in, will = fillets.

If anyone is intersted, I am willing to make one stop in the Portland area to drop off fish. Other stops, possible depending.

Cash only, weighed fish, I don't intend to make any thing off the sale, just want to hook some folks up.

  3. Nice to see we are raising some money for a good cause, Thanks Kim!

Nothing like a little blatant hype(laugh)(laugh)

  4. Heres a different perspective on Petco. I work in southeast WA, in the Tri cities area, and go back home to Eugene on the weekends. The tri cities has a population about the same as Eugene/Springfield, or Salem, but does not even have a LFS that carries salt. There are only two Petcos here, thats it. When the petcos get their orders in, they get swamped with people buying stuff still in the bags, since no one wants anything after it has been in their tanks. Hard to imagine an area this size without a LFS.

  5. I'll play. Seems like we might need some ground rules though' date=' like if your acan dies, maybe you don't get any of the others since you don't have one to share? I dunno.[/quote']

Was just a thought. I'm totally on board with sharing, even if something melts.

And I drive back and forth all over creation every week, so I can transport.

Oh, how exciting! This is almost as much fun as my main display tank!

First off, I would like to thank George for his generous contribution of both live rock and a wicked huge aiptasia.

He gave me so much live rock that I had to scramble and put together my old empty Mr. Aqua 7.5 gallon freshwater cube tank and set it up for saltwater. Yay for having enough extra bits and pieces to throw together an impromptu holding tank. It's now running and hosting what must be about 10 lbs of live rock. Thank you, George!

Here's the 7.5 gallon and 2 gallon next to each other:

And here's the largest aiptasia that I've ever seen. Thanks George!

I'm still in need of more pests, and I'll be getting in touch with folks as I'm excited to host some mojano, bristle worms and other nasties!

I think I'm going to remove about half of the sand bed from the tank and hopefully add some more nasty, infested, pest addled live rock to the tank!

How about you use the 7.5 gallon tank as a quarantine for the pest tank.................(laugh)(laugh)

  7. $$ not necessary, but if you want to throw a frag of something my way, I'd let you(naughty)

I'd pay to rent it. If not that is ok also I am considering buying one now :) It would be cool to test it out first tho.
  8. Hi Kim,

They seem to be kept pretty well at bay. I can swing by on Thursday, and we can do some zapping. Do you have a lot? I don't remember seeing any last time I was there, but I was probably too dazzled by your corals to notice.

  9. Roll on one...

John Majano, you've been condemned to die by the electric wand by a jury of your peers.

A sentence imposed by a judge of good standing in this state.

Do you have anything to say before sentence is carried out? (only silence, except for the whir of pumps, and faint water trickling sounds)

John Majano, electricity shall pass through your body until you are dead...in accordance with state law.

May God have mercy on your soul.

    Roll on two....

    (Apologies to The Green Mile...)

Yes, I have one, and it does seem to work pretty well. Fun to use too (evil cackle(laugh)).

If someone wants to borrow it, I'll be making my usual commute this thursday evening.
