  1. 55 gallon acrylic. Brings back memories. I used the acrylic scratch remover on the inside of my tank (while up and running) after one of the neighborhood kids caught a few bits of sand up in the mag float. It left a HUGE scratch across the front. I was able to buff it out with the water still in it! I did it in small sections and kicked up the filtration...perhaps that might work for you. I have a acrylic buffing kit...lightly used. Let me know if interested.

  2. It was really alot of fun. Roger and Lucy were great! Andy...I didn't realize you were such a funny guy! Thanks for the info, the company and the laughs! Oh, and Mike, thanks for donating the frag for the Awards program! You'll have to remind me what it was again!

  3. What are you trying to feed? Garlic has many pros and cons...mostly it is used to help make the food more palatable. Try feed cyclopeeze...fish are naturally attracted to the small copepods and they are easy to eat!

Hope they get better...have you tried any medication?

  4. Dunno what you picked up or where' date=' but I've found the PhosLock works really well and has lasted me a long time. I've had a $25 jar for over 6 months, and it has done well on my 110. So, on that kind of timeline, it doesn't seem too spendy to me. My $0.02.[/quote']

Thanks for your $0.02! The place I went didn't have that available. You use the phoslock in your reactor?

  5. I thought the plan was to alternate events' date=' with the Christmas party being in Salem and this BBQ to be held in PDX area.[/quote']

We are alternating both events each year. This to give a wide range for attendance. Many people have things going both during Christmas and the last part of the summer, so we did decide to move things around each year.

    2009-Picnic in Salem Area

    2008-Xmas party in Salem

    2009-Xmas party in Portland area

    etc, etc, etc....

  6. I will be there! I will also bring:

1 ice chest that belongs to Miles

1 foam chest that belongs to Mark

    Hope I didn't forget anything!

I am also looking for some cool, inexpensive sps frags! I have nothing to trade but have a few bucks to spend. Let me know.

  7. I agree with Matt. The stress you create trapping or catching a fish then QT'ing it could put it over the edge. I just bought a blue tang two weeks ago and put it STRAIGHT into my tank...this is the same tank that had ich...I may be crazy, but even if my QT'd my tang for 6 weeks and added it to the tank...it would have probably gotten infected (see below).

Ich is a parasite. It hosts on unhealthy fish (stressed fish are often not to healthy). They have a hosting cycle, form cysts (the white dots we all see...mostly on the thin membranes like fins and eyes) then fall off. They then take up residence in rock, sand, plants...etc and wait until a new host comes along!

Now back to the tang...he was a bit stressed, but after 6 hours, he was picking off algea off the rocks...two days later, he had a FEW white spots....in went the metrodiazonale for 5 days (soaked over night in mysis and cyclopeeze and added to the main tank). Now, spot free and happy as a clam.

There will be people who QT there fish and hats off to them! If it works for them, fantastic...this "alternative" to QT worked for me. (BTW I did trap one of the dominos when it first happened and QT'd him...it was a waste of time cuz I couldn't catch/trap any other of my fish in my display! Treating one, doesn't treat all!)

BTW...I had both of my dominos COVERED with ich cysts...the treatment above helped them fight off the infestation and they are healthy and ich free now, some 3-4 weeks later.

    My two cents.

  8. Okay...I guess I must be honest. I do a 10% change pretty faithfully on Sundays. The honest part....I hate Water changes. I do a small amount because it does upset most everyone...with the exception of the clowns, in the tank.

I would like to cut them down...maybe I will do 10% every two weeks for a while....

  9. I got a forced split from the meeting we had back in October. The main RBTA came from one of the members here. It is a tiny little thing, maybe one of the only that survived...beautiful light pink tips (for now) and I noticed (what seemed to me) a purple stock! Now, I have a POS digital camera and have tried to get pictures. Maybe after this weekends meeting, I will be able to do better!

  10. It was a fun evening...Nice to spend some time with John and Constance, plus Mark and Stacy and Syd! The icing on the cake (besides my two little frags from Mark) was that I got to meet the infamous Steve Weast! Although he was pretty quite, it was nice to meet a celeb of sorts!

Anyone can put these together at anytime and any place, just let us know when and where! I am sure you could get a group of people to come.

  11. so clowns are not able to fight off ich?

Its not that they are "not able"...mine were just way too stressed out and really fell prey to it. Add on top of it that they quit eating (kind of like us when we feel crappy) and their demise was inevitable. If only I had caught it sooner and followed my current route of treatment, they may have made it!

RIP to my two little true percs Nemo and Marlin (cliche I know)...we will always miss you guys.

Welcome aboard to Nemo 2 and Marlin 2, a couple of broken stripped Ocellaris. They are just as cool!
