I think the Moderator 2 hit it on the head. I spend a lot of time reading a lot of posts and replies on the forum. If I had a nickel for every reply I have typed out then deleted...man o man would I have some nickles. It is easy to be passionate. The hard part is harnessing that passion.
Most of us are in it for the hobbie. Some are on this forum for the sake of argument or to question the authenticity of others motives. I want to believe that everyone here does not have an "agenda", and are mearly present to lend a helpful ear or a helpful hand. 8/10 that is the case...it is those 2 times that really dampen the mood!
Heads up and glasses up to the 8 outta 10! For those other two...its fun just to read, shake my head, and click another button. Afterall, I have the power to move on!

Please don't take my remarks as harsh or directed toward you as a person. I have seen a lot of "bashing" on this site...it usually starts with a question quite similar to yours.
I am in total agreement that anyone selling "damaged" goods should be held responsible, that is if it can be proved. I just don't want to see a public "lynching" because of a one time incident.
Sorry if I came across harsh or rude in any way. That is really not my style. Also, I am all for freedom of speech, as long as everyone does it wisely and with much thought before publishing. Afterall, slander and liable are harsh words!

Joel,
Your are on the top of my list for nominees for a BOD position! Even sponsors can hold that postion. Perhaps a year from now...you'd be interested in one of the officer's spots!

Who sold you this?
Considering that we do not know the circumstances behind the sale of this creature, I think it would be unfair for Missdefiance to answer this question.
Afterall, we don't a well reputed LFS name smeared because of a one time event. Remember how the "public tends to panic".
Please feel free to contact her via PM to assertain the answer to your question.
Of course, it is her decision to disclose that information publically, but this is just my two cents. I don't want the public to be mislead and "scammed" either, but without proper proof of this occuring...

I think this is the worst part of the stuff. It can trap a lot of detritus (flame).
So true! Then that builds up phosphates and nitrates and over and over and over....
The stuff is tough.

Strange...I am sure I just posted a response.
If this is duplicated, I apologize in advance! Anyone who has paid for membership, yet can not gain access to the Members Section on this forum, please contact me via PM with your Name and date of purchase.
Rob has been working hard on the website and I am sure this is just a glitch in the system!

Are you a PNWMAS member? Have you visited your member's forum? Just thought I'd check!
If you are a member, you are eligible to nomitate and vote for individuals for the offices of:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Vendor Relations
Plus take part in nominating and voting for the Board of Director positions!
As of now, we have 1 nomination for each office, with the exception of Treasurer and Vendor Relations.
Look around...is there another member here on the forum that you would like to see participate in the leadership aspect of this club? If so, get on board and start nominating! The nominations close the last day of April and voting begins in May.
So, visit your friendly "Members Forum" for all of the latest and greatest news about being a PNWMAS member. And remember, for $20.00 membership fee, you can be part of the decision making process for this great club!
Thanks a bunch!

My email has been sent. This is definately one of those far fetched things that our goverments has come up with, yet again.
Now, if they could put this type of effort into saving schools...

Those rocks are fine! The add a nice touch to the tank. I am just now starting to get some coraline growth on the back wall of the tank. Wont be long until EVERYthing is covered....of course the spiny urchine should help with that!

John,
I responded to the evite...I paid for one ticket via paypal!

I check my SG every 2 to 3 days. I also keep a 1/2 gallon jug (tightly sealed) mixed up with VERY high, in fact, over saturated salt water. If my SG drops...I add a bit of this water and it equalizes.
The key here is frequent monitoring. If you check it because your livestock is suffering...it is beyond the point (usually) of salvaging. To date, I have about $500 worth of stuff...a few seconds to check - $0.00, calibration every 6 months - $0.00, knowing things are stable...priceless! (Gosh I hope it is ok that I used that catch phrase!)
I hope everything bounces back in your tank! Good luck.

John, you are truely the MAN! I know you work very hard for this club...that is why I know you'll make a great president!

I have a few tuffts of the stuff...mostly on the back of my glass near the sand level and on my "old" rocks. The new rocks that were DIY don't have any. I added a phosphate reactor, run carbon, changed weekly, and I think my skimmer does a pretty good job! I empty the nasty skimmate about every 4 days...I am still bad about feeding...but I kicked the habit with flake and pellet and use mysis and cyclopeeze. Everynow and then, I will chop up a bit of silver sides and mix it in...I recently changed my RO membrane, and that helped a bunch. I also added a few scarlet legged hermits, a few conch snails and a long spiny urchin...
During water changes, I use a small tube and "suck" what I can off the rocks, plus use the turkey baster to keep any crud out of the tuffts! When it is shorter...the fox face and the blue tang nibble on it.
I quit stressing about it! The tank has been up for 5 months...it is still a "baby" tank.

I personally buffed out the entire inside of a 55 gallon acrylic tank. When I first saw it, I though there was no way...4-5 days later and some real sore arms...it was done and looked great!
I have also made alot of my own rock. 2/3 of the rock in my tank are DIY rock.

I missed out on the BBQ last year. I had my dogs with me in the car and I didn't feel like fighting with them the whole time! Hopefully, it will work out a little better for me this year. Not sure yet if we will make a day or a weekend out of it, but I am looking forward to these tours! I had a blast last year.
