  1. That would be great. I am not camera savey enough to get a good in focus pic. I do have a question though, does the Urchin eat on your corals? Everything I have read on the urchin is they could eat or destroy polyp corals. Just curious and which one do you have? Thanks for the help.
  2. Great..... It does not blow off. It seems it has grown to the rock. So Nyles, you are using phosloc? What causes this stuff to grow? I checked my water parameters and phosphates, nitrites, nitrates, ammonia are all 0 and ph is at 8.3. I have 1 1200 gph powerhead on both sides of the tank. I t seems I have enough water movement. So urchins clean off this stuff?
  3. I need some help identifying this stuff. The pictures are a little blurry but this stuff if blood red in color and it looks like short fuzz. It feels sort of slimey and does not come off the rock very easy. I hope someone knows what it is and if I need to get rid of it. Thanks.
  4. The light is sold. The Bio Ball Filter box is still for sale.
  5. I have a 36" Coralife Aqua Lunar PC light. The fixture has a 96 watt 10k light, 96 watt Actinic Light, and 2 Blue LEDS. The light is 8 months old. The bulbs are original. Light is in great condition. I am also selling a Bio Ball Filter box. It has Bio Balls in it. Don't know if they are still good. They look alright. I got this in some equipment I bought and have no plans of using it. The guy I got it from was using it. Dimensions are 17"W 14 3/4"D 13"H. light- 155.00 OBO Filter- 55.00 OBO Heres some pics. I would prefer not to ship but if need be, I will. Buyer pays actual shipping charges. Thanks for looking.
  6. I seen that. Out of curiosity, why did you get rid of it?
  7. I am wanting to buy a 48" TEK T5 HO light set up for my tank. I am really wanting a 6-8 bulb setup.
  8. nice pic uhuru. What are those? Anenomes? Is it eating the bristleworm?
  9. Thanks for the info. If anyone is interested, I would get rid of the big piece of live rock they are attached to if someone wanted the Anthellia. All I would want is close to the same amount of live rock that it was attached to for trade. I will post a picture of it. My pump is right above rock it is on. That is why the Anthellia stalks were closed up. The rock with the bubble tip on it would not be part of the deal. Let me know
  10. Didn't even think about that. It is mainly on one rock so that should take care of it. The rest of it, does it just pull off of the rock? Not that I want to be that cruel. (naughty)
  11. I have a bunch of Brown Anthellia that is taking over a couple of rocks. I would like to keep some but not as much as I have. Whats the best way to control it?(scratch)
  12. I sent you a message through craigs list with my phone number. I am very interested in the pump. Jim
  13. Thanks for getting back to me so fast. I will look into to tomorrow to see if it will work for what I am going to be setting up. I did find it on craigs list. Looks like a nice pump.
  14. Do you still have the pump? If so, how long has it been in use. How quiet is it? Can you send pics?
  15. Since this thread, I have not got the algae back. After I shut the lights off for 48 hrs, it went away. Also, the best investment I have ever made was but a RO/DI filter system. Man, what a difference.
  16. Moving the powerhead I think helped a little bit but adding the Diamond Goby was the trick. You guys were right about how much sand they move around. He moves so much, the water sometimes is cloudy from all the sand moving around. Since I put the goby in, the cloudiness has gotten less. Thanks for the help. (clap)
  17. I don't have an answer for you but I am wanting to know myself. I also have a coralife power compact fixture. How often do you change your bulbs? I have only had mine for about 7 months. I like it.
  18. Thanks again for the info. I have moved my power head to try to have more movement over the bottom. It has seemed to have made some difference so far. The next chance I get, I will get a Diamond Goby. I already have a Yellow Watchman Goby. It shouldn't hurt to give it a try.
  19. Thanks for all the info. I have not checked calcium or mag levels because I don't have test kits for these. The tank is almost 7 months old. I have 5 Nassarius snails. From the consensius, it seems I need to go get another power head and some more Nassarius snails. I also need to get a test kit for calcium since I am getting hooked on corals.(rock2) Again, thanks for the help.
  20. This just appeared about 3 weeks ago. I thought it would eventually go away but it seems to be getting worse. It use to be in a small patch. Now it is spreading. (scratch) I have not changed anything except adding the brain coral. Will this stuff eventually dissappear like diatom algae or do I have to add something to get rid of it? I am running a HOB Skimmer. All water parameters seem to be fine. 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, 0 ammonia, 0 phosphates, sg 1.025. I use API liquid test kits.
  21. It seems to be cayno bacteria. I shut off the lights for 48 hrs and it has totally dissappeared! My live rock hasen't looked so good. Thanks Pledosophy for the tips. I am also cutting back a bit on the food. I thinks I was overfeeding. Water is looking clearer. Thanks for all the help. It is nice having a resource like this especially for being new to the hobby.
  22. Thanks. I will shut the lights off for 48 hrs and clean the filter. Then I will do a water change. In response to phosphates, should that show up in a test? I checked it with a API phosphate test kit and it came up 0, unless it is not enough to show up but enough to cause problems. Thanks for the help. I will check back this weekend and let you know how it turns out.
  23. Here are some pics. For some reason, it is kind of hard to see the slimey algae next to the purple coraline algae.. The tank has been up for about 3 months. It went through a cycle where the diatom algae was thick and it lasted about 2-3 weeks. Then it cleared up where the sand, rock, and tank was clear and looked great. Then just this last month, this slimey stuff came in and hasn't left. It looks different than the algae it had when I first set it up. Also, since this stuff has shown up, there are a bunch of particles floating around the tank. Oh, almost forgot, I switched to using RO water 3 weeks ago. Any suggestions would help. Thanks
  24. I will but I will have to take them tomorrow when the lights are back on. Thanks for the help.
  25. Does it help if the output nozzle of the filter is on the other side? The Maxi Jet is on the left side pointed about 45 degrees into the tank, about 3 inches down. The output nozzle is on the right side pointed 45 dgrees into the tank, about 3 inches down also. Sorry, I should have mentioned this in the first thread.DOH! By the way, does anyone know what kind of algae this is??
