  1. Thanks Fly Guy. I bought that Anemone from Neilsreef about 6 or 7 months back. It came with that Clarki Clownfish that I names Bozo. That little clownfish was a washed out skinny little sucker when I got her. I think Neil said he picked it up with the anemone from another hobbiest that was taking down his tank. Anyway I dont think Neil even had it in his tank yet b4 I bought it from him. I think he said his tank was not quite big enough or something like that. Anyway he sold me the anemone and the clownfish for 40 bucks (thanks neil, I have enjoyed them very much) It was in a temporary holding tank. The clown started feeding that anemone from the first day in my tank. He brings that anemone all the biggest pieces of food when I feed the tank ( I make my own from fresh seafood like most people do ). That clown has grown alot since I got him and the anemone has grown mabey 4 inches also. Its a big sucker. I will find some more pictures and post them here that show its size better. I attribute the clowns vibrant color and growth to the varied diet I feed and vitamins added to the food 3 times a weel. I use Boyds Vitachem which I have seen recomended many times over on wetwebmedia.com. That stuff really brings out the colors and keeps my fish plump and healthy. Heres a picture that shown the size of the sebae. Have a good day and thanks everyone who voted for my picture. First contest I ever won...I think Jay
  2. What is the maximum size to upload images for this? 200k? Thanks Jay
  3. Rock On B_Foxy The anemone was under a 400 watt halide but it was way up there above the tank and behind glass and I think it was 20k bulbs. Not very bright IMO. Jay
  4. Ok yes I agree but, I also got a green carpet nem at the same time. It is really big and was nice and green in the other guys tank b4 I bought it. I added both my new nems to my 55 gallon established tank with 250 watt halides XM 10000k plus 2 65 watt PC actinic. That green one shrinks way up when I turn on the halides and every once in a while it will shudder like its being burned. Well I called Woody ( Im sure you all know him from Seahorse off of Columbia in Portland ) and told him about this and he said that the 250 watters were probably too much for him. He recomended I turn down my photo period to 6 hours a day instead of 10. Well I kep SPS so that doesnt fly. So I fashoned a sort of shield from cardboard with some 1/2 inch square holes cut into it to sort of tune down the lights. What do you think of this? Goes against everything ive read about them. He has lost some of his nice green hue and turned more brown. He has got some of the green back now but still shrivels down about 1.5 inches smaller when I remove the light sheild. I have been cutting bigger and bigger holes in it every 2 days to try to acclimate him but as I do he gets a little smaller each time. Go figure? have moved the Blue one to my LPS tank with the VHO lighting and continue feeding it. It has grown a little this past 2 weeks in there. (scratch) big time DOH! Jay
  5. Hello: I have a Blue Carpet nem and I want to know if 4 110 watt URI VHO bulbs will be sufficient to keep it thriving long term? I have 2 super actinic and 2 actinic white (daylight 12000k) bulbs 110 watt over this 55 gallon tank 12 hour photo period. Jay

Man I wish I could do stuff like that. Easier if you have lots of tools I guess. Great job. How big is your display tank and what do you think the reactor you made for yourself would be good for, as far as gallons goes? Jay

  15. Wow how fun was that. I can only imagine how vibrant those tangs are when they have the ocean to choose what they eat. Wish I could go and do that. Where did you stay at and for how long? Was that one of those 10 doller throwaway cameras? I did not know they made them for under water but I bet someone is making a killing selling them to tourists. Jay
