  1. Thanks. No idea why the lid is warping. The lights are nowhere near enough to cause an problems like that. Yes, it is all acrylic. It is thin acrylic but still acrylic. Dennis
  2. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Much appreciated. I originally ran two blue plus and two aquablue specials. Then took out one ab special and added an actinic. Liked it so much, I took out the other ab special and added another actinic. The two actinic bulbs are "different" actinic. One peeks at 440 and the other at 460. I think there is a lot of par from the blue plus bulbs. Looking at the spectral graphs of each bulb though...not a lot in the 500-700 range. Lots of fluorescing going on though. I think all the softys I have grow better with less of the t-5 light. I think the t-5 fixtures kick out a ton of light since they "bathe" the coral in light. Unlike metal halide bulbs that cast a lot of shadows. I do however have a couple acro colonies growing as well as a couple monties. The acros are green slimer and yellow milli. They are growing back from where I broke them off about a year ago when I got rid of all my sps. They all seem to be doing just fine in this tank. Dennis
  3. Thanks Emerald. As anyone who knows me knows, I've always been extreamly anal about the cleanliness of my tanks. OCD! Dennis
  4. Thanks guyz. They look a little fake but, I have no idea how to fix them. I try to white balance them but when I click on the white, everything turns red. I have a pic of my Chili Pepper Monti but, it looks so fake, Im embarassed. The green color is about right but, the polyps are not THAT red. Oh well, I will post it anyways for fun. Enjoy!
  5. Also, a few pics of the new Warner Marine, H2 skimmer. Not totally impressed but time will tell. It's only been a couple weeks. Already have had the lid warp and not fit anymore. Not very happy about that. The skimmer is HUGE on my little 40gal tank and Im sure it's too much skimmer. It is rated for 80gal and IME, Warner does not over rate their skimmers. Should have got the H1 but after seeing the H2, the arrrrr arrrr arrrr, Tim the tool man Taylor attitude kicked in.(nutty) On to the pics!
  6. Took a few new pics of the tank. The pics are hard to adjust with all the blue light so, take it for what it's worth. You'll get the idea. I run kind of a unique light setup. I run 4 t5 bulbs which include: 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI True Actinic and 1 G-Mann True Actinic. No daylight. All corals in my tank grow like crazy and love this light. Scott, wanted you to check out the growth on the Purple People Eaters. The population finely doubled! Got that new tank set up yet? Well anyways, on to the pics.
  7. Someone else had one of these over on RC. Look up "Angela's gonad eating butt fish" and I think you will find the thread. It is seriously funny. Dennis
  8. From what I've seen, I think that most the tanks that Reuben makes are better suited for frag tanks or sumps. JMO Dennis
  9. Wow Randy...big color difference between the "real" and the "not real" PPE. The "real" one definitely looks brighter and better. Dennis
  10. Frank, is it bryopsis or hair algae? If bryopsios, try the increased Mg levels. Check it out on RC. As far as majono go, remember that butterfly fish in a reef are a HUGH risk. Make sure you're ready to try and get the fish out if/when it starts eating the good things. Dennis
  11. Beautiful! The PPE's must be in strong light to be getting the white streaks (or is that from the camera?). Also love the Joker's in the last pic. Good stuff! Dennis
  12. Oh boy...I thought I responded already. Guess not. Sorry guys. The pressure washer is 2500psi, 2.3gph. The engine is 5.5hp. It is, I believe , a vertical shaft. Like a lawn mower I think. Not really sure. Hope that helps. Sorry it took so long. Pictures?? Dennis
  13. Got an Excell brand pressure washer w/ Honda engine. The pump went out and it is not cost effective to purchase and install a new pump versus buying a brand new one. So, I am left with a dead pressure wash with a pretty nice and fine honda 170cc engine. Engine runs fine. Looks good to. You can take the whole thing and do whatever you want with it. Hell, stick it on your lawn mower and it would run like a champ!! $50.00. Or equivalent coral trade of course. My cell is five0three seven58one7zero5. Give me a call if you're interested. Thanks for looking Dennis
  14. Actually Alex, it was the mohawks I wanted not the AOG's. Although...Naw..I already have some. Dennis
  15. Ill take the mohawks! Sent ya a pm Dennis
  16. I run 8.2 to 8.4 with 4 teaspoonfuls of kalk in 5 gallons of top off water. I also dose 2 part. I have to dose the alk. half about 3:1 with calcium. Magnesium is dosed once a month or so. Been using the D&D salt but nothing really stands out about it in comparison to the other salts out there. JMO Dennis
  17. Actually, it's, "swisher rolled tight, gotta spray my Ike"....just sayin' (rock2) Balling Lite always looked interesting to me but, not on my little 40gal tank :( Dennis

    Check these out

Check out this one from same guy. I don't know, looks a little shopped to me.
  22. Yes. Having the coral die in your system is not the best idea. I seriously doubt it would cause THAT much of a problem but....in my opinion, better safe than sorry. If someone will take it on, that would be good. Problem is, is that some of the diseases that kill coral are contagious and can spread to other corals. So, it is not very common for someone to want to introduce a sick specimen to their own system. Dennis
  23. I would take the rock out, chip off the dieing colony and return the rock to the tank. If it is a "three fist size" rock, you dont want to waste it. Especially with the cost of liverock these days. I have a kind of grave yard in the back of my house where I toss dead/dieing coral. It's unfortunate but sometime inevitable. Dennis
