Really... Hmmm, not good. I'll keep a close eye on it, and will pick up some gel CA tomorrow...

Yeah, he's definitely the runt of the litter. I have faith in him though, he's a fighter
  3. Well, not *hard* I guess -- just expensive. I imagine a lot of people would come in to check them out and then buy them for a lot less on the web. Maybe not...

Yes, $5 each for the two frags (one of them is a double ) and $15 for the colony.

    Rats!

Just went to post my PotM entry, and saw the threads are closed and voting is open. According to my calendar, there is still some July left What is the official end-of-submissions date, so I don't miss out next month?
  7. I'm thinking a couple of the controllable Stream Nanos will fit my tank nicely, but it sure would be nice to see them in-person. Must be hard for the LFS community though, expensive to stock and tough to compete with the cut-rate margins available on the web.
  8. Depending on the size of your tank, a chiller could easily set you back over $500 + electricity. It'd take you around 10 months of use to break even at your current guess of $50 a month for the AC you have. That's like 5 years as hot as this one to just break even...
  9. We just got back from camping, and the tank looks really good -- we lost another Scarlett-legged Hermit (we lose at least one each heatware) but that's it. The tank temp was 83*F, and the room temp was 76*F The new Sears AC is working great.
  10. I just got an 8000BTU Kenmore on sale for $169 ($20 off, iirc). Good price, good rating at Consumer Reports, I'm happy. Not as happy as I'd be if this heatwave crap would knock it off... but happy.
  11. Consumer Reports Air Conditioners ratings Lowes stores *don't* carry the Frigidaire units. Sears/Kenmore seems to be the best choice locally. I can't see buying a chiller for $400+ when I can get a room air conditioner for <$200 and keep both the room and the tank cool.
  12. Oh boy. I'm off camping this weekend so can't babysit the tank. Might have to get that chiller after all :-(
  13. No reason why we need just one shutterbug clicking away, the more the merrier -- who knows, maybe we could spin off PNWMAPS

Dang, you meant here isn't just a pill I can drop in the tank? :( Just kidding
  15. Well, a club photo gallery (using something like... well.. Gallery) would be cool. Maybe grant server space to members? Depends on how much space & bandwidth the club buys from our provider of course.
  16. I've posted my pictures here. Sorry, batch uploading pictures to the boards here is a pain and I'm lazy so Flickr will have to do Edit: Oh yeah, feel free to leave comments at Flikr to name the folks in the pictures. I only met a few of you, and don't trust my memory to match real names with 'net names.

Anyone have any tips for nursing browned-out coral back to colorful health? I got a nice colony and a couple of frags at the meeting, and they need TLC
  18. Too much prop, H2O. I think I have a spare Octura 1435 I'll bring to the meeting tomorrow if you'd like; it should work fine on the MJ900. I'm running them on my MJ600s, and they seem a bit too much for them.
  19. Now that I think about it, I guess there isn't much point in testing nitrates or nitrates weekly if you're going to test ammonia, right? Both of those lag ammonia, so won't spike unless ammonia does first. So if I'm checking ammonia weekly and staying on top of water changes the others shouldn't need monitoring?
  20. I'm testing the Nitrogen cycle weekly, and CA/KH every couple of days (since I'm buffering to bring both up). Specific gravity weekly. I should probably pick up a pH kit one of these days...
  21. Of course not! Don't be ridiculous! DOH! Balloons are far too fragile, you have to use something much stronger
  22. Is anyone coming up from Eugene way? I'm hoping someone would maybe be willing to mule an RBTA for me from Tat2d...
  23. I remember my first Anemone Roundup fondly The feel of the salt spray on my face, the melodious calls of the anemones, the smooth tanned flesh of the nati... (nono) Anyways, it was wonderful. Highly recommended.
