  1. Has the Canon come in yet?

I've been considering one myself. My "old" SLR is a Canon and have already invested "a bit" of $$ in lenses and I'm pleased with Canon but would like to hear first hand accounts if'n ya don't mind :)

  2. Bulkheads work with the gasket on the flange side of the fitting, meaning the gasket will never be on the nut side. Water can leak through the threads. I'd advise removing the bulkhead and placing it correctly, even if it means draining the tank.

IMHO, silicone is never an option. Either a gasket works or it doesn't, if it doesn't - get a better bulkhead :)

  3. Prolly more effort than they're worth IMO unless you are using this as essentially a sole source of filtration. You'll want several species of algea in the mesh to remove a wider variety of "wastes" from the water. Getting good laminar flow down the sheet is critical, if you don't water will follow the path of least resistance and not get "scrubbed" at all. Run carbon after the ATS to get rid of the yellowing of water.

Get the book "Dynamic Aquaria" by Walter Adey & Karen Loveland. Adey worked at the Smithsonian doing ATS systems. The systems were/are met with some debate but good fun and you'll learn a lot :) Do a Google search using "ATS" & "Adey" as criteria, you'll get lots of opinions and lotsa facts, in general - alotta good info from knowledgeable folks.

  4. ..or just tell 'em they got the wrong number. You can say "hello" over and over and over, you can start reading bad poetry, tell them what a sexy voice they have, all kinds of fun. 'coarse my favorite line is just say "oh you didn't hear, busted - yeah heroin" works every time :)

    Good stuff

  5. We hope this does not offend anyone or any of the sponsor, we truly would love to set up this system but again we just don't have the room.

    Judy & Ted,

I don't think any of the sponsors would be offended, I know I wouldn't by any means whether you split them up or sell them as a pair. I know what it's like to not have any more room for such things. Your offer to donate some of the offer is very kind & generous, more than coud possibly be expected IMO.

BTW, don't be frustrated by it, it happens. Take yourselves out to a nice dinner with some of the proceeds and I'll hook you up with a sump or somethin' down the line, but shh - don't tell anybody:)

    Hope all is well,

    James from Envision

  6. Rich,

Did you get all the parts you needed?

...you know you can always just give me a call if you need this stuff :) If I dont have it sitting around I can bring it in on my next order, usually every week. Always Sch80 Hayward, Spears, and Asahi.

  7. drock,

What is it you are looking for?

If you coming to the next meeting (23rd IIRC), lemme know. I'm hoping to bring a bunch of "scraps" that are too small for most of my stuff, too good for landfill, but hopefully - maybe just right for something you'd need? If I know prior, I'll stick your name on some :)

BTW, mostly 1/4", but some up to 3/4", almost all clear, but maybe some odds & ends colors as well. Kinduva spring cleaning for me. Almost all cell cast Cyro and Polycast. Doubt I'll bring any tube as I don't use it, don't buy it much.

    Lemme know,

    James
