Cool thanks for the info and being the guinea pig for this particular LED. I'm going to start piecing it together. You noted that at 12" the lightspread was 12x12, and at 24" it was 24x24. I'm assuming it'll be 18" to get the 18x18 spread, so I just need to be sure there is enough output from the LED to keep all types of corals. I'm thinking 30w might be perfect, what do you think? Or if i could make this dimmable........

I had planned to go with par38 bulbs, but it seems i'd need 3 of them and at $80 a pop that just isn't a cost effective way to go. I wonder if the 50w would be too bright for this tank since it is only 16" deep.

When i had a 10gal nano i just put the amount of Bionic alk solution that my tank used up per week into my topoff reservoir and it worked out fine. Now i use kalk in my topoff water since it also provides the tank with calcium

For KH I use Randy's DIY 2 part recipe, baked baking soda. For Ca I use Calcium Chloride from BRS.

Thanks Brad, yah my acans have all turned the corner and are doing great. I was worried for awhile there... The doser is awesome, i love the set it and forget it part. When i had a CA RX i had to keep fiddling with it. Last things i need to do are clean up the wiring in the bottom of the stand a bit, and build the sides. I have the wood, magnets, sealer, and paint i plan to use i just need to get to it. Also tonight i'm going to be finishing up my tile job in the fish tank area. Then i can finally add my inline frag tank (rock2)

Thanks! Yah it worked out well with my DIY filter sock holder. I'm only dosing 2ml of the alk and 4ml of calcium per day (in addition to kalk in my topoff), so 1 gal of alk should last me 1892 days and the calcium should last 946 days at those rates rofl but i'm sure uptake will increase. But i think 1 gal of each supplement will last well past a year each

Thanks guys. Yah i don't hate acrylic as much as i thought i would. I have yet to actually scratch it, though i have marked it by slamming a rock into the side. But no scratches yet knock on wood!

Snapped some more pics this weekend. I got some pics of how i setup my Bubble Magus triple doser. Its been running just over a week now, and my alk/calcium levels have never been more steady. So here it is, i basically just screwed a piece of wood sealed with Kilz to the bottom 2x4s under my tank. The doser sits perfectly under there. I use 2 empty 1gal vinegar containers for my alk and calcium supplement, i picked up a couple undrilled carboy stoppers from the homebrew store and drilled a small hole thru them, then pushed some hard airline tubing thru. I drilled a couple holes in my filter sock holder to hold the tubing outlets Here is the entire sump area FTS

You need to attach some lazers or something to it, give it a lazer sight something like that lol (laugh)

I got the Bubble Magus triple doser and installed it last weekend. Its pretty slick, i have it dosing 1ml alk solution per day and 4ml calcium per day. I forgot to get a picture of it in action, but I snapped a bunch of pics of corals yesterday. My tank is doing really well right now, i'm getting great growth on all my corals. Brad my toxic pie is still doing really well, not growing much but nice and purple with bright green. It does NOT like much light. How do you find all those flat rocks by the way???

Yah its funny i originally didn't plan to set this tank up, but i went for it and am glad i did. I still would like the overflow external, but its a great little cube

I've got my vortechs working in anti-sync mode on short wave pulse. It gives me a nice wave so i took a video check it out!

Dang that does suck Jesse. I was just gonna say a lot of my acans have done that, and always the ones that are on the sandbed. They grow great, fully encrust over the plug or rock they are on, then once they touch the sand they recede. I don't know why. I've resorted to putting them on larger discs/rocks, dipping, and fragging. But its usually only a temporary fix and ends up happening again a few month later. And then I have some other acans that grow right down onto the sand and encrust over it with no problems at all. Very wierd.

Now we are talkin! I almost did the same thing Brad, but i had faith in Kim
