  1. I have a Korallin calcium reactor and I would like to put a ph probe in the lid of it. Does anyone know where to get the watertight fitting? I had found them at one point in time, but have since forgot where.

On this same note, I intend to run a second chamber for the reactor. Would you measure the ph in the first or second chamber?

    Thanks,

    Shawn

  2. Thanks for the input guys. I have been hearing similar reports. It seams that most reef fish if well fed do not tend to eat there tank mates. At least that is what my research has been telling me.

  3. Does anyone here local have one of these in there tank? I know Upscales has onre in the cube, but I am curious if anyone has one with inverts. I am thinking of getting a pair for the 240, I would just prefer that did not snack on my shrimp. I have done some research and have got a mixed bag of results, with most saying they are okay. I am just curious what peoples experience has been.

    Thanks,

    Shawn

  4. I have to go with Joel on this one and say that regardless what heater you use, a controller is an absolute must. I would say it is a toss up between my LMIII and my controller as for best overall purchase. Even before I bought a full tank controller I used a Ranco unit and loved it.

  5. Or should I say.......how much is too much?

I am just curious on peoples stocking habits. I would be interested to know how many different species you have in your tank and what your tank size is. I would also be interested to know how you have stocked your tank as in did you mainly go out and by colonies or has it been one frag at a time?

The reason I ask is that I have become quite the fragoholic. I have been running a 30g frag tank for several months in preparation for the 240 and I have amassed quite a collection of frags. I think last count, I had three small colonies and about 25 small frags. Not to mention a rose bta and 2 or 3 lps. Fortunately the big tank is about ready to start stocking.

  6. From all that I have read(and that is a lot), in large SPS dominated tanks, it is almost neccesary to run both. My goal is to not have to dose anymore. Now this is all from what has been read as I have not actualy put any SPS in my 240g yet. I am thinking initialy that I will just run the kalk reactor and see how that does.

  7. I used to be a big fan of the Ebo units, but I have had multiple failures over the last couple of years. I am talking about five different units. In some trad I did, I ended up with a Via-Aqua unit and could not be happier. I just bought two new ones for the 240.

  8. #2 is the better option for feeding the reactor. Do you have a top off system in place? I am using both a kalk reactor and calcium reactor. My kalk reactor is fed via my auto top off system that consists of a 40g reservior in my garage, Liter meter III and kalk reactor. All my top off water goes through the kalk reactor.

Depending on how much space you have where and how much you are willing to invest in a top off system. You can go extremely cheap, or over the top.
