  1. Sold........ First up is a Precision Marine Hot-1+ skimmer. I am asking $100 the picture is correct with the exception of the collection cup wich has the key-holed flange and drain. This is an awesome skimmer for the smaller setup or quarantine.

Precision Marine Venturi Series Protein Skimmer

    HOT-1 Venturi Protein Skimmer

The Precision Marine HOT-1 Protein Skimmer is offered as two models, HOT-1 (standard) & HOT-1+. The HOT-1 is a Hang On Tank model that uses the venturi device on the MAXI-JET 1200. We believe there is nothing in it’s class that touches the performance, and of course the build quality. We think you will agree.

The difference between the HOT-1 and the HOT-1+ is the keyholed acrylic lid and the drain on the cup of the HOT-1+. It can be used with a Precision Marine Waste Collector. Functionally, it’s identical to the HOT-1 standard.

Next is a Precision Marine waste collector asking $70.00

  2. Up for grabs is a Digital Aquatics Expansion Socket. It can be used with any of the controllers. I am currently using one for my chiller with my Aquatronica unit. New these sell for $42 + shipping. I am asking $30

Here is a description from Digital Aquatics.

The Expansion Socket is useful for expanding your system beyond the 15A limit of a power controller. It also allows you to use your ReefKeeper to control higher current devices such as chillers and multiple lights on a single channel. The devices controlled by the expansion socket do not affect the power budget of the ReefKeeper.

The expansion socket can supply up to 15A (10A inductive) to one or more devices. Power is supplied to the Expansion Socket through a 15A cord (6’) that plugs into a wall outlet. Control of the Expansion Socket is handled by the ReefKeeper via a two prong control line (3’) that is plugged into one of the ReefKeeper channels.

Program your ReefKeeper with the functionality you desire, then plug in your Expansion Socket to the ReefKeeper then simply plug the device you are controlling into the Expansion Socket. It’s that easy!

You can control up to eight Expansion Sockets with a single ReefKeeper.

  3. I have an ozone setup for sale. All pieces ar new and have never been used. I had intended to use ozone on my new tank, but have just not found the need. All that is needed are a controller and probe. As stated, all is new and would sell for $230.

    $65 Gen-X ozone generator

    $25 each 2 - 500mg Red Sea air dryers

$25 Aquarium Pharmaceuticals RENA Air 300 Pump

Willing to trade for SPS, also interested in clams or cool LPS as well

  4. I am just curious if anyone going to the meeting has anything of interest to trade? I may have a couple of nice pieces. The first two pics are of a beautiful light purple piece. It is currently in the proccess of fully coloring back up from the switch from the frag tank to the main tank, but it is progressing quite well and shows every sign of being it's original color. The last pic is another stunning piece that has a bright yellow body with pinkish/peach tips. I am willing to frag both. I am mostly interested in other "nice" pieces more so than cash.

The pic really does not do this piece justice.

Under actinics this piece glows. It is stunning!

  5. The controller is currently slated for spring 07'.

Nyles, I am almost positive you can diy a battery backup for these. It really amonts to a 12volt sealed battery with a maintenance charger attached. I am tempted to open one up just to have a look.

As for cost, I don't think they are over the top for the performance not to mention the current and future features. To each there own though.

My decision was based on the fact I could buy three for the price of my closed loop, so it was an easy choice. I was going to spend the money one way or another.

  6. I found another reason I love these pumps. Battery backup!

After Sunday night, I started to get concerned about a power outage. We have a generator capable of running about 75% of our house but it does not switch over automaticly. So if the power goes out in the middle of the night or while we are at work, the tank sits without circulation until I can get the generator fired up. So I bought two of the battery backups from Ice Cap. One of these will run a pump for 36hrs at 50% power. Or it can run two for 18hrs. I am thinking of buying one more as you can piggyback them and get 100% power for 36hrs.

In my opinion, this is invaluable. It gives me a little piece of mind.

    Just thought I would share.

  7. I have an Aquatronica controller and really like the unit. I am just having trouble setting up the ph control aspect of it. If anyone has one and is using it as a ph ccontroller, I would love to know the program you are using. I have Korallin reactor using A.R.M media with a probe in it. I have been told that the target ph in the reactor for this media is between 6.7 and 6.8.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Shawn
