If it came out of a certain local wholesaler's system, I wouldn't get it. I am either doing an angler or the blue spot. Maybe both LOL......

the t-5's are better. more energy efficient' date=' cheaper to buy, and less heat issues come from them.[/quote']
This is all true, but you still can't match the actinics of VHO's with T5's in my opinion. I would do the Halide/vho retro

Thanks for the responses. I don't do any spot feeding (never have). Sounds like I should turn off the skimmer and see if the zoas resume their accelerated growth.
turn the skimmer off for a month or two and see if the zoanthids start growing again. Interesting experiment

I just got a 30 gallon system, thanks Doug, and am currently cycling it. I put a semi deep multi size sand bed in it thinking I would maybe put a blue spot jawfish in it. Or gobies/pistol shrimp, or a cool mantis. But you tell my what you think I should do with it...........
My lighting will be a 24" Maristar with 250 watt bulb. I am also going to do highend sps in the tank.

I suspect a couple of problems. First, that is too many fish in a 2 month old system. and too many aggressive fish for a 36 gallon tank. A two month old system is not completely stable yet. So, slow down a little bit. It is easy to go fast in this hobby and in the long run, if you take it slow and easy, you will have much more success in the hobby and enjoy it a lot more too.

In my opinion, LED lights are neat, but I am still not sold on them. If you get the proper MH ballasts, reflectors, and bulbs, along with actinic supplementation, it is not that expensive to buy and use. Electronic ballasts have come a long way to help save money. I would use a 250 watt MH light over your 60 gallon. Of course, it really depends on what you plan on keeping. I have seen T5 setups that are very nice and the colors really POP, but you will have to do your homework on bulbs and combinations of bulb colors before you buy. Beauty really is in the eye of the beerholder.....

Found the rock. Now I need a good skimmer, so I have 1 more of these frag packs available.....................
-
Kufo had jumped the shark a few months ago when they changed to playing more classic rock. We didn't need a third classic rock station. I still haven't changed my preset to another station yet. I am hoping that Alpha Broadcasting and all of their millions of dollars will set us up with a good station. I HATE that jack-off Lars Larson and the rest of those talk show idiots. It just sucks!

Are you looking to increase flow? If so, why not buy a stronger pump?
