  1. I don't get them very often. I try to only buy them when I can get them at a good price. So if I do get them in they are allways about $40. Some of my suppliers wholesale them for close to $40.

I will try to get some more in two weeks.

  2. I first met Gateway Bob when I was about fifteen years old. So I guess I have known him for abour nineteen years. Man that makes me feel old. Great guy. Made things work the old school way. Undergravel filters and flourescent lights, nothing fancy but he always had great stuff, even way back when. Everyone loved Bob.

I was actually with him when he broke his shoulder, after he fell he got up and asked me to help him bag up some corals. He was standing there with a broken shoulder and all he was thinking about was getting corals to bring back for his customers, forget about the ER he had work to do.

He had a very loyal following.

  5. I hope it is a mistake, but I was looking at my incoming tranship and it looks like I have twenty tongue corals coming in friday. Sweet. Just what I needed. Everyone needs a tongue coral, they are like the new purple monster. Gotta have one. At least it says that they are green.

I know Smeggy wants two or twenty.

  6. Testing long term( six months plus) on tanks with various corals including SPS is the only way to test the effectivness of these units. Am I going to be able to achieve the same colors as I do with Metal halide. I doubt it, But I could be proven wrong. I think they will be good light for LPS and softy type tanks. I know when power compacts came out they were going to replace halides, and when T-5's came out they were going to replace halides, They had the par but didn't produce the results of halides. I don't think you can ever replace the intensity of a halide.

    Prove me wrong

  7. I am always experimenting, trying different bulbs. I switched to the XM 20k run off a HQI ballast over my acros and have really liked the colors that are coming out. So far I like them better than the radiums. It has only been about six weeks so we'll see. They are cheaper and should last longer than the radiums. I am mainly looking for a bulb that will maintain intesity for a longer period, my radiums are dropping off at about four to five months. Acording to Sanjay the XM's are the most effecient bulbs out there.

Still using radiums on everything else for now.

  8. The membranes I carry are the Dow Filmtec. I have tested most the membranes on the market and I have found these to be the best for the money. The only one that I saw a beter rejection rate in was the HI-S from Kent, but the price on these is crazy. If you run a Hi-S DI with a Dow membrane you will get just as good of water as with the Hi-S membrane. I do have DI cartidges and Hi-S DI resins. The combo (canister and DI cartridge) sells for $55 minus your 10%. As far as the membranes I have 50gpd, 75gpd, 100gpd. They range from $50-$65, minus 10% for club members.

  9. That is part of doing business on-line. You should not have to deal with PCI yourself that is the job of premium aquatics. If they want to carry a procuct they need to warranty it also. If you bought that pump from me or any of the other LFS around you would already have a new pump. On-line may be cheaper, but you get zero custmer service when you have a problem.

    My two cents,

  10. Thanks to everyone for coming. It was nice to see some new faces in my shop. Seeing this club grow over the last few years has been amazing, keep up the good work guys(and gals).
